Saw a fantastic CX500 this morning...spoked wheels....looked in mint condition...being ridden to work in the rain....get that man a sticket!!...if ya spot a nice pre 90's post it here...i always had a soft spot for the CX500 after a mate and i doubled to the Birmingham bike show back in 1984/5 from London....and i saw the launch of the V-Max..aaaahhhhhhh...but back to the CX...i always thought it was a fantastic bike...water cooled, v-twin....looked good......ran like a brick....sounded like it had three gears missing....still was a cool reinvention by honda....shame it was technically flawed...

I can't believe they were actually able to sell a handful of CX's - there is ugly, and then there is the CX....a completely new dimension.I was a bit pissed off once when I heard a Ducati chopping down through the gears and pealing through a corner - I turned around and saw it was a bloody CX500! Nobody saw me,so I was safe.
That ain't ugly. I reckon it's a fine looking machine
i'll second that, croc! but, could anyone educate me what the problems were with that engine?
As I understood it, they were perceived as lacking power and need more maintenance than average.

I bought a CX brand new in the early '80s. I didn't mind the looks of the thing and I was happy with the ride & handling, but it was definitely underpowered two-up. I got it for a good price from my local dealer, and ran it in according to the handbook. At 5000km it ran a main bearing. The local dealer fixed it under warranty without any argument, but I was bitterly disappointed. The kicker was they couldn't identify anything that had caused it, because everything else internally looked perfect. So when I asked how long it was going to last when I started riding it again, they said "three months, three years, who knows?" I sold it immediately, and bought my first BMW. I've often thought that a CX650 Euro would be a good proposition for commuting & touring (solo) but they aren't very common these days and still seem to go for more money than I'd want to spend for a hack.
SPOT THE DIFFERENCE>>>>
Don't get me started on the NS750,I got involved with the story on a thread in the main forums recently.
