It was quiet here until I started up the Darmah for a pre WOF check....the driveway was shaking.

Talking of noise - here's what a 600ss CAN sound like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVpxwEzcIBQ Hmmmm - that can LOOKS stock dunnit?
that sweet sound of music to my ears,,,one of many reasons why we own them
Nothing like giving it handful to set off car alarms and shake latte cups at cafes.... check out the museum pics in the classic section. That Ducati difference thread sure gets the valve springers wound up tight.
Yeah - even the nay sayers drool when I turn up on group rides. A quote from Gremlin when he took it for a spin "Yeah it's underpowered but I can see why you like it - it handles like it's on rails and that zorst is amazing" This from a man on a KTM SM990 with full Akropovic system on it!
lol voltaire,,,(i gotta get me some louder pipes),,,im sure everyone would want to own a DUCATI sometime in there lives,,,especially all the nay sayers
Good to see some nice bikes in all your guys avaters, would be good to get them up here,,post them up guys and girls

First Service: I bought my SS ie in August with 17000kms on it and have done 5000km's on since. It was 'serviced' and the belts 'checked' when I purchased it. I thought I may as well get some belts as well as a filter, so today it was oil change day. The old oil looked pretty yeech for 5000 kms, fitted new filter, thought I'd have a look under the belt covers. Top one passed the 5 mm allen key test but the lower one was almost 7mm!!! Set up the youtube vid on belts and followed the mechanic....easy. Hello....the plugs don't look to good for 5 k either......and the belts felt very hard and look to be cracked ( or is this a join?). lined up the dots, changed the belts, turned over the motor a couple of times, checked again, set up tension as per vid, 5 mm good, 6 mm bad. reassembled....started up, job done. Less than 4 hours and I'm a rubber band Duke noob. I have added a pic for comments, All I can say is if you buy a used Ducati and you don't have a service history you NEED to change the belts. Mines a Japanese import and when I saw it , I could not believe how clean and unused it looked. Next time I buy a bike off a dealer I want to see the paperwork for the pre sale service. Tomorrow its SH 16 for a spin
Nice pics scracha,,,always a bonus to have service history for sure voltaire,,,even better when you can do what you can yourself with a little input from you tube,,,SH16 on!!!
I'd be happy to show a pic of mine, but how how do you get the bastard in here I don't have URL's to my pics, they're all on my PC only. This social group thing obviously works differently to the rest of the site - I must be a social out cast
cheers voltaire, i had a look for your belt link on youtube, looks pretty easy,i'll give it a go. i also found one for doing the valves too. i guess i gotta try doing these things myself, they look simple enough.sorta. front shocks first tho, thanks to jim.
To upload a picture, first you have to start an album. first you have to upload one to you album and then just link it via the instructions...took me a while to work out but if I can do it..... Go Piston Broke, I thought it was going to be difficult ..next its check the valves.
