Hi everyone and welcome to Ridge Runners The aim of this group is to create a social group who regularly cross the Rimutaka's on a weekly basis to have coffee, and tiki tour when time allows. Our meets usually start with KGB puttin out the call, so I thought lets have a place to put the call out, and the original Ridge Runners were the marine squadron VMH1 on Guadalcanal- a brave bunch indeed How appropriate when we think of riding the Taka's with the inherant risk's we collectivley face on our rides, from cagers, holes in the road, rocks, armco assaults (cold tires) and of course the pending roadworks Anyway all are welcome, and all we ask is peoples skill levels and abilities are respected. We always meet in a group at the Haywards, and Rimutex as second option with 2 headcount stops on every ride- hilltop and featherston turn off- respect all others and have a great ride is all we expect Usual kick-off is 1230 at Dry Creek laybye - Times subject to weekly fluctuations and weather conditions
The first rides been and it was good. Lots of people showed up with 8 riders meeting at Haywards, and Quasi tagging in at Featherston (being late to leave lol) I split off to a mates at MartinB and the team had beers at Toppys Re-united we went out via the wester exit of the square and thrashed some fast straights back to Featherston where a last headcheck led to a mad scramble over the hill. Team slowly disintegrated as riders split off to homes in various directions, a fun ride for all in perfect weather
