Approx age. ly if you have to, but err on the younger side, we all do that. Male/female. Hobbies, kids, bikes etc if you want. Hi, I'm UNNA (Simon Ganley) and I live in Whangaparaoa and own a process control engineering business. This involves all sorts of hi-tech stuff. I have been riding since the age of 16 and turn 60 soon. I ride a BMW R60/5 I have owned for 30 years but also have a BMW R100RS which is being rebuilt and an XR 250L for the dirt. Have continuously owned BMWs in NZ for 36 years. I have always been into repairs and frame building etc. Was the original NZ Guzzi importer. Over the years I have been Pres of BMW Register twice, qualified M/C Instructor ( taught over 8000 riders) Track Marshall organiser for Classic Racing & BEARS. Am a totally crap racer so don't bother. I have ridden in various countries around the world including 17,000 miles around the USA. As well as business I am Project Co-ordinator for the rebuilding of a Conservation Lodge where I teach about plants etc. There are not enough hours in the days. 2 adult Kids and about to get first grandchild. Next project will be a Rickman Metisse Honda.
Hi my name is Andy and I'm a bikaholic. I have a 79 Guzzi 1000. I've been addicted to motorcycles for as long as I can remember. I did a BFTP ride earlier in the year to Kaiaua. Met Caseye on the last SATNR ride and he mentioned about the group so here I am. I live in Waiuku and work shifts at NZ steel. I have 3 kids (daughter aged 10 and 7yo twin boys) so juggling family commitments and riding is always a struggle. Doing shiftwork means I mostly ride during the week between school hours . I also have a BMW R1100GS and a KTM525 for adv rides. Hope to meet you all on a ride in the future. Andy.
Names Arron and soon to hit the magic 40. Currently living in Hunua with the wife and two young boys. I like all the super bikes that where king of the road when I was at high school. Being a two stroke fan an RG500 was first on the list followed by the mighty Katana. I have rebuilt both engines and have done all the mods myself... I think that I enjoy tinkering in the garage with a beer as much as riding these bikes. I'm thinking that I would like to build a GSX1100E next... had one a loved it.

Hi all, I currently ride a 1981 Moto Guzzi 850 MKII Lemans. I am restoring a 1981 Katana 1100 SZ. At present it sits in the corner of the lounge like a piece of Japanese art I have been riding bikes since I was in my early teens thanks to my older brothers supplying me with random acts of kindness. Being the youngest has some advantages. I come from a family of motorcyclist. My dad raced bikes in his younger years and introduce motorcycles to his family of four boys. I still remember the Yamaha 200 twin, RD 350 (Air cooled), Honda 400 four and the Yamaha XJ550. Dad finally gave up riding in his early 70's. My dad insisted my first road legal mode of transport was a motorbike and took me shopping, we came home with a Yamaha DT175 (we lived next to a huge pine forest) and thats when trail riding started. My first road bike arrived when I was 18 Suzuki GS450S what was I thinking I live in Ararimu just South of Drury hidden in the hills on a life style block with my partner of five + years Mandy I'm in my mid 40's have three great step children (2 girls,1 boy: 23,21&19) who have all left home now. So we are free most weekends to indulge ourselves until grand kidds arrive??? Mandy and I also have another passion, a 25ft yacht moored in the Clevdon river. When we are not out riding we are sailing. Life is goooood!
Hi all. Online name Futura and my stable includes my flagship and pride and joy, 86 Katana pop-up in mint, original condition. I have a Aprilia RST1000 Futura for my regular ride and long distance stuff. An awesome bike but not for this social group... I'm 37, 3 kids and work nearby at Whenuapai. My youngest daughter (4yrs)loves the bikes and I cant leave home without giving her a ride up the driveway. I didnt bother with a car licence until I had too, I didnt see the point when you could ride instead. Started on a Suzuki A100, followed by a home restored GS425 when I was at school. GS450 followed that, CB200,GPZ500, GPX600,GPX750,CBR1000, GSX750 and on and on... (Could be some sort of addition issue there, I blame my upbringing and the need for attention...) Looking forward to meeting BFTP riders, an awesome group for classic bikes. Cheers
Evening (or morning/afternoon) all. A quick introduction from me. I started in the early 70’s (golden years – yeah right) and have lost count of the bikes I have owned (must count one day) During the 80’s I had the lovely Suzuki GSX1100. A new one each year from 80 through to ’87 including a Black Pipe GSX1100 EX for those who remember them. Other bikes included RG400, GS450S and a pile of others. Single then, and lots of money to spend – not like now. These days i once again possess my favorite '80s bike - the Suzuki GSX1100EFG. Known and feared due to its "unusual" handling and barn door aerodynamics. I live on the Pahiatua Track 20km outside Palmerston North in the middle of some pretty good riding country. It is great to make contact with others who share the bug for the older bikes and keep them alive
Hey all you newbies, great to have you here with us, looks like we're acquiring new riders at a rate unheard of anywhere else. Dad[ple, those roads are great flat and go for miles. Futura, dont worry bring a newer one if you'd lile we will still drool, I promise. Seedy, seems you might be the longest riding member so far, nice effort there mate and welcome.
Futura, dont worry bring a newer one if you'd lile we will still drool, I promise. Thanks Caseye, promise to ride at the back of the pack in shame... lol.. I'll get the Katana sorted soon for summer, she's a fair weather bike now...
Hi everyone, my online name is cs363, real name is Colin. Looks like thanks to an invitation to join the group from caseye I'm currently the newest member of the group. A few of you I already know and hope to meet up with the rest of you at some stage. I'm in New Plymouth and bikes tend to loom large in my life as they are one of my hobbies and my living. Other interests are snow & water skiing, music, computers & gaming, motorsport and a bunch of other stuff that escapes me right now... had bikes since I was about 13 or 14 and since then had more than I can count or remember (in my 40's now). Currently own a 1980 CBX1000A, 1994 RF900R (might be soon to go in exchange for something red, Italian and quite a bit newer...) and a 2006 CRF250X for flinging dirt around. I do get up to Auckland/Hamilton fairly often as used to be based up there and still have many friends up that way, so highly likely I'll be able to squeeze a BFTP ride or two in at some point.
