Meet at Halfmoon Bay Load bikes on to the Waiheke Island ferry and have a coffee and toasted panini on the way over to the Island. A quick half lap to a beach for a picnic then half a lap back to the ferry??
Waiheke sounds like a blast. Will it be a requirement to have a shortish pillion?
Hey croc! That's the bloody sticket ticket right there! I think thats a fantastic idea. And there is heaps to do there, it may be 50km/h but the back roads are very twisty indeedy. I have hooned around there a bit actually, the main man for Guzzis is resident and I visit a few times a year, mainly tying in with the wine and food fest. Oh yes... I will ask him for some suggestions over there soon. The place has really changed in the last 10 years, if anyone has not been there for a while they will be suprised. The place has more money than hippies now, thats for sure.
what would be the the total time for such trip, you think?
sounds good to me..i've driven around a little bit over there...there are a few cafes and bars to stop at etc........otherwise....there is always Mission Bay.....or...i have access to Torpedo Bay....on the navy base..at Devonport...thats right on the water.......and fits dogyiti's war party theme...you might even find the buried planes.....
Freightlink are doing deals of $50 for a car and two people return. (they don't list motorcycles) Will phone tomorrow and see what they can do. Sealink's $108 return for two people and a motorcycle is a fucken rip off. You can get return airfares to ChCh for that sort of money.
well, i've been chewing on this for a bit and this is what i'm thinking: i'm going to be cheap and say that $100 bucks is too much for me for a ferry trip. would rather spend the money on good food somewhere. also, maybe the waiheke idea is a bit long time-wise for a first outing with the ladies? though, we may want to build up to a bigger/longer event next time, if the first experience is good for everyone. i'm not sure that we have to worry about overcrowded beaches in october, but we need to take into acount that it may still be a chilly day, and that the ladies may not be keen on being out for too long, so i'd prefer to stay on the mainland and have access to a nice cafe. we can still take the food/drinks out and sit on the beach and have a picnic. that place where dodgy and cmoore went and took a pic seems a kind of a spot that i would be happy with for the first "bring-a-partner" event... me thinks
Gott Und Himmel...a sea bourne invasion....Mein BMW is ready for such an adventure.....I love the smell of Reisling in the morning. I'll bring the Vagner Flight of the Conchords CD.....the ferry must have a stereo....dah..dah..dah..dah.....
Will we have to buy WW2 German helmets? Volt-sounds like you may have enough in your shed for the whole battalion!
Forgot to phone Freightlink yesterday and can only get a recording today. Will have to remember to try on Monday
