Just in case there was in influx of interest after getting close to todays racing...if there is an interest in creating a BFTP racing team for the post classic's racing...then i think we should look at it...my view is going in blank at junior level would mean approx. 20k+ for a years racing....5 rounds..travel...purchase bike.......race costs,,,,,,,,,tyres etc etc.....of course we already have a real really really beautiful XJ550.........but seriously...4 or 5 people at 5K each and then their own time...some seriously good fun to be had.....to race you need a licence...but not a big issue...just a cost which would be from the consolidated fund..including racing leathers etc....best person for the job blah blah...4 out of 5 races each year are at Puki/Hampton?...so low travel cost.....As a joint team lower cost then doing it yourself....be a part of racing motor sports for very little cost...I honestly believe this is a very acheivable idea....some post classics do no more the purchase an old bike...think of it as an advertising spokeperson for an emerging group......we ride post classic bikes...we race post classic bike.....we rule!!...well...you know what i mean...5k...no big deal really..aye?
cor....can I get a job at Mainzeal.
ok...5k for 4 people...the more people the less cost per person....8 people...2.5k...16 people 1.25K....gezz...mainzeal paying 200k + isn't the issue...having disposable income by not having debt is....
That is a really cool idea cmoore. I couldn't front that sort of money but could drip feed a grand into a fund to help the doers
that is why the fund is important...lock in the funds and then there is no arguments ...all purchases from the fund....to some degree it doesn't matter how the fund is structured as long as it is...think of it as investing in a race horse...you pay for the joy of owning....and the chance of winning
ok...to be really serious...a lot less then 20K...if we took my XJ as an example...$600 to buy...$1000 to upgrade engine parts and tyres....free labour to work on it...???...only other cost is racing days...five times a year..transport...tyres...racing fees etc...easily acheivable for $5 - 7k...split between 5 or 6 people ........but if ya wana win.....more money...better bike, suspension....
Start it off like that and the rest will find it's own level along the way as the stimulus kicks in.
We need a sponsor or two or 3. Maybe a classic bucket would be more reasonable, there's a dude with a 70's 160cc who was wanting to part with it at some stage. It would be funny, and the coolest bike on the track, circulating at the back
Dodgyiti It would be funny, and the coolest bike on the track, circulating at the back Huh! I thought that was the idea with the Yammy?
or for those of you who don't like Yamahas.....everyone except Caseye and Cmoore....zook.... and apparently its cool. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-247904256.htm
a cafe racer is a bit different to a classis racer....
So, just out of interest: What do you guys think could possibly make a classic bucket? Has to be 25 years old, or older, cheap, 4 stroke, 150cc, not too embarrasingly slow, and cheap?
Gosh...maybe a Stornelo or something? But they don't come cheap I'm afraid....
Just not cheap http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-247726331.htm Cheap? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-248504568.htm Classic little racer http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-249418079.htm Little but with spares http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-248954343.htm This could be the one http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-248791708.htm
