My parts have arrived from the states!!!!!!!!....it is a bit like xmas...so now i have a bit of work to do on the carbs and the head....and the ATU....and it will almost be finished....
can relate to the xmas feeling ... new parts
because i can tell your all so interested.....i got new brake and clutch handles (2 of each)....new rider peg rubbers....new clutch rod seals (to finally stop the leak)..a new ATU unit as the existing one has been welded together!!....new idle screws as the existing ones are soldered together!!....new main jets and pilot jets.(different sizes to existing for better performance)..and a new head gasket...so i can add it to the existing, raise the head and lower the compression...which should make it run a bit smoother and allow me to keep the worn cam chain that the PO left in when he rebuilt the engine...BASTARD....oh..and i bought a new set of contact plate screws....took lots of adjusting before i worked out the cam chain was worn so i had to cut notches out of the plate to allow me to rotate it further..!!..raise head, tighten cam chain...points back where they should be....that's the plan!...so should be humming by the 30th
those clutch rod oil seals are pita both taking out and putting in. getting them in square is a mission. camchain - why not split it and replace it with new rather than fiddle with double gaskets etc? service manual says it's ok to split the chain and rivet it back together as a matter of course when working on the top end.
Had a link in mine,no problem.
yeah i understand...and maybe first option would be to replace the chain, but my research on 650rider.com...has meant i will try the lower compression angle as recorded by xsjohn...an ex yamaha tech...who says it improves performance and to do it you need a worn/stretched chain..so since i already have one of those....
