"Giving some serious thought to riding it to a chiller commissioning job I have to do in a few weeks.....in Dunedin.... or take the SS....sore arse Vs sore wrists.." Are you commissioning at the new fontera storage site?
Are you commissioning at the new fontera storage site? No a heat pump chiller at the Early Settlers Museum 1st of 3 in Dunedin area..and if time permits a pig farm in Invercargill....oh the glamour.......
Voltaire ....sore arse Vs sore wrists.. i am NOT going to say how you would get neither if you rode a comfy ** bike (replace stars with the two most popular BFTP letters)

Voltaire: Giving some serious thought to riding it to a chiller commissioning job I have to do in a few weeks.....in Dunedin.... But.. you have a BMW... Well done on the shakedown, not too many issues- which is nice. Well- nothing major anyway. After getting my WOF on the Mk1 Monday, my arse is firmly planted in the seat. (NO FILMING PLEASE!!) Might as well chuck some dust covers over the rest of the fleet. Took her to Bob's work last night and got the from the assembled crusty crew. (My Peer Group) Oh- A mate bought a '73 Commando from Twizel last week (The blue one on Trademe recently) and rode it back over 3 days without a single issue*. I saw the bike last night and even though the rear half was covered in oil, it still made it. It had been off the road for 6 years. Now that is cool * The left hand twist grip is a bit loose, but considering he has only been riding his Injun's I suspect he had been twisting the left grip out of habit.
Dodgie But.. you have a BMW... ....and a Legacy and a VW t4 van....wheres the fun in that...? Thats true about riding a bike that was 30 years ago deemed to be unreliable.....there lies the challenge. On the plus side...the SS might leave you with sore wrists...but at least your hands will be warm.. ( heated grips).
I had that Commando on my watch list, never ridden or owned one....but in the top 5 of ( realistically affordable) bikes I want one day. Can I have a ride...? he can have a spin on the Darmah...
Voltaire: On the plus side...the SS might leave you with sore wrists...but at least your hands will be warm.. What are you saying there- the BMW leaves you with limp wrists?? That Commando was on my list too, then it was gone on the buy now of 10K But he bartered it down when he got there. 14,000 no shit original miles, un molestered, original paint... wish I had it, it started 2nd kick last night and sounded like the angels had caressed my ears and moved lower, lower, lower, ah.. that's the spot, right there, no, don't stop! oh.. ohh... ohh yeah baby! Can I get a handy towel please?
What Just ONE! Norton made the best bikes ever, love the Commando's.
