    Besides old Harleys and Brit bikes (namely Velos ) fishtail exhausts are not my thing, but on this they look pretty cool, plus I love the 3 front lights.
    The Eldorado was a USA market model. A comfortable all day ride. This one is the last of the older high top rockercover models before they went to the type used on my Mk1. Being 850cc sounds fairly grunty- don't be fooled, these were a cooking model- small valves and carbs and pretty heavy.

    I would love to have it in my collection any day. They do look better with the hard rear bags though...

    This is a great prospect for the classic bike rider as all the parts are cheaply avaliable to keep it on the road. Many examples of this engine go 150,000 miles no problem. They have geared timing like the older BMW's so not even a timing chain replacement, just set the tappets and balance the carbs, change the oil and once in a long while do the points and timing. The ultimate low maintance, oil tight, reliable, usable classic if you don't want a BMW...

    Left over from the war from the REAR brakes of Italian tanks, stopping is important when your retreating.

    The front brake less the rim is about 8kg. They work quite well if you get quality linings and the drum is trued.
    I have only tried one in the dry so don't know about wet peformance.

    They didn't retreat as such, they just lost interest.

    Interesting reading, thanks cmoore.
    I thought drilling the discs, or drilled discs were for better wet performance...
    Going back a while I had a bike with plain discs and I bought the next years model update which had drilled discs and that was the only change to the braking system and pretty much the whole bike.
    Maybe it was only in my mind but I could swear the drilled discs performed better in extreme wet conditions ( surface water and heavy rain)

    See that Eldorado I linked to sold on a 10K buy now. Quite a good deal really. The guy still has a project Eldorado with a disc front for sale;

    If it were to be bought for around 3 grand and you did all the work inc paint it would owe 7.5-8K tops for an 'as new' bike

    Edit: I just bid on it- must have talked myself into it dammit
