Whooah, bit fast for me I think the bidders on that may be thinking the same thing. Cost a lot to put it back to standard. And it is already at over 4 grand which is more than double my buget. The only reason I want a Guzzi for a track day bike is because I already have one and plenty of spares, most likely the same reasons Max will develop a BMW trackie. Otherwise if I was to start on a fresh page I would get something like croc got. Or maybe an older 750 Gixxer
Too fast.....about the same power as your Mk2. The guy who binned his honda probably now owns a $1 reserve track bike.....smash the fairing and its a right off.
Fairings are way over priced. It's bollocks when dropped bikes get written off when the majority of damage is just the plastic fairings. It's just bullshit profiteering. If fairings really did cost half the value of bikes, just think how cheap new naked bikes should be.... but they aren't. If the price between naked and faired is only a couple of $k then the fairings by themselves should only be $3k (which is still a wrought).
I suspect the problem with fairing prices is more than profiteering. It's not in the manufacturer's interests to have bikes written off, 'cos their income from parts sales stops when a bike is no longer on the road. When manufacturing, the cost of transportation and storage are simplified because of the Just In Time methods factories all use. But the cost of shipping and storing an individual fairing for resale is problematic because of the sheer size of the packaging needed to avoid damage. Even though the fairing is light, and the packaging is mostly air, the sheer bulk of a fairing packaged up is massive and the shipping costs are based on area, not weight. The other problem is the economy of scale, since large runs can be put through for manufacturing requirements while only small runs are done for the replacement market. Softdrinks are another example of where the cost of manufacturing the item is out of all proportion to the sticker price. The balance of the retail price (other than the profit margin) is made up of transport, storage and advertising/marketing. The soft drink made in Mt Wellington is the same price whether purchased at the supermarket next door to Amatil or at a supermarket in Invagiggle.
Check out our unsung hero in the latest BRM and a little unexpected bonus in the parts boxes up from Balclutha
Nick who? Never heard of him, Max might know though, he knows everyone with a boxer BMW. It's frighteningly incestual. Talk about frightening, that looks like a toaster tank on it.
It's not Volty in disguise is it? lol
Nah cmoore, Volty's race leathers are in Zooki colour scheme
Diggers It's not Volty in disguise is it? lol No, not the the rider. The hero is our very own shy, receding (particularly his hairline) Max Headroom Aka Nick/Nicholas Ploeg who hunted down the original bike. Dodgyiti Nah cmoore, Volty's race leathers are in Zooki colour scheme You been painting again Dodgy?
No, Volty bought them like that. the Lad has Italian bikes, you can't teach him anything about style he don't already know. Matches his bucket too, even more so if the Rizzla colour scheme goes into effect Had to only post a small pic as we have female members now and we don't want them all frothing over the sexy beast, sorry girls, Volty is taken.
Ya, he kinda has to do something with the bucket graphics if he wants to avoid it being nicknamed the Smurfmobile . . . .

Smurf hads its first run out today at .....Mt Wellington. Running a bit rich but otherwise ok. Geeez those bucket racers can ride....inside , outside.....cutting in .....WOW.... They were totaly knees down the whole time..... And the 500cc motards doing power slides....yikes and jeepers. The previous owner even took Smurf for a spin...he liked the lubed clutch and throttle cable, the fact it now starts on the kicker... and the front brake that now has two working pistons.....and the fresh petrol..... Gave me an all afternoon buzz....even came home and cooked tea...shepards pie...yum.
Go Smurf Go. Good on ya Voltaire. See you down Wgtn
