Geeeze. That's some serious dosh.
Was Max wearing his 'flat-tracker' hat? I thought the Daytona Orange on the R90S was a bit bright and not enough metalflake, both my R90S were that colour and maybe they had faded, but before I matte blacked mine, I seem to remember them being paler, and he is right about the pinstripe. I didn't want to say anything lest I get singled out as a BMW Trainspotter or something.
I should dig out a picture and post it of mine, I did the south island in 1993 with a mate on his S2 Ducati, before we left I matte blacked the R90S and wrapped a tow rope around the indicators for him, just in case. I had sheared the flywheel off the crank the day before we were about to leave, got it al back together at 4am, left home at 5 am, rode the whole way to Wellington on the edge of a cyclone and caught the 5pm ferry. Got to Picton and the bike would not start. Pushed it off the ferry, bumpstarted it and found the alternator had shit itself. Bought a battery charger and ran the whole rest of the trip on a battery load of charge during the day, and charged it up overnight. So it would do Auk-Welly on a battery. Ah sweet memories
Alas no, Maxshedroom had his good lady in tow and was well behaved. I wish I'd had a camera to record the BMW hitting 20K.....jaw dropping moment.
I was about to leave last night when a couple wandered up, & he commented on my bike. Said he has one too. Meanwhile Mrs H is chatting to the wife and casually asks if they had bought anything. "Oh yes" the wife said, "we bought the X75 Hurricane". They are from Levin, and it seems they came to the auction specifically to buy the X75.

Oh While I'm coming clean, I bent a rod too. Seperate incident. Two engine failures over 160,000 ain't bad, especially for me. Replaced the rod, got Dr Bob to balance the engine while it was apart, he made the jig for the BMW crank for my bike, so I saved you money when he came to do your R90S. Thank me later...

Said a quick hello, didn't see if he'd had his hand in the air though . . . . Originally Posted by Dodgy Anorak . . . He was interested in the BSA Rocket, until it got into silly money
