Yes you take your chances alright.
Sometimes you can tell by talking on the phone with the seller, like I did with this BMW that is on it's way north to me ()
As soon as I had listened to him for 2 minutes I knew that the bike was all good. Will see when it arrives, for now I can pretend I have the cone of silence already. Even though I said I was going to get the bike transported, he still bought it a new battery, changed the oil, got a new WOF, gave her a tune up etc so I could go out and ride it as soon as it arrives, which should be around the 22nd-24th just like Santa the bikie
He mailed up the ownership papers with the cheque for more rego, weird to have a bike from the mid '70's with only 2 owners on it, last stamp 1980... which was around the time I bought my second R90S... which was also a '75 silver smoke....now where do I get me one of those flat tracker caps...

croc- you are the tour guide to Pointless Drivel, next stop Dury Autobhan for a scuffle with the little people.

Can anyone post the link to the closed auction that this thread was about originally.
I deleated it from my first post and also from my watchlist on TM in disgust at what was going on.
My mate that did the test phoned me tonight to say the bike went for just under 4K and that there was an unanswered question on the auction regarding the condition of the motor from someone who claims to have knowledge of the bike's history. Now that interests me.
My friend says the comment on the auction goes on about the engine being stuffed and compression was worse than the seller claimed.
And the findings my mate reported back to me.
I also wouldn't mind seeing who won it perhaps I know them..

So I never stepped in but someone else did, I just wiped all trace of it from my computer in disgust with the softco*k attitude that it was none of my business and really, it wasn't.

But I'm curious now.... 4 grand - if only I could sell a project bike for that and live with my concience

I don't care where a bike is made, but for this group its the 'when' that counts. No matter where it comes from we all pretty much go though the same shit with them at one time or another. I would ride with 20 North Korean bikes, and bikers for that matter as long as they were pre-1990 and knew how to ride safely.
