Bucket Racing fun day today here in Auckland.
My son Declan had a big night out ...went to Greenday ( the punk equivalent of the Rolling Stones).....expressed some interested in going over the last week.
Got him up at 9:00 and I loaded up the van with the FXR150.
John Connor had rotating sessions of pocket bikes and buckets with a noob session included.
Declan got quite a bit of lap time and some one on one training.
By the end of the day the trainer said he was " on the way'

Result: big smiles and all day buzz....now need another bucket...
Thre was a guy there who could really ride on a Honda GL 145 that he got for $ 175.00....and his mate carved up the field with it, better than his FXR150 he said.
I got into it today and had a really good day...even managed to do some passing, peg and boot scraping.

I had a frustrating day with the lovely Mrs Headroom's bucket of sh!t . . . . I'd done a carb swap which involved making an adapter to mount a "sleeve" mounted carb on a flanged inlet stub. I'd fitted a Keihin PE28 which came off a 2-stroke, and it started easily with a sweet idle. Took it for a ride and it bogged at anything over about 3500-4000rpm. After swapping bits and changing needle positions and changing jets, I still couldn't get the thing to rev cleanly, so I figured that I'd re-fit the original carb 'cos at least it ran OK other than being an absolute pig to start without ether.

The result (after spending the whole day on it) is a bike that's a pig to start, won't idle, and won't rev any better than the Keihin. Blasted bike was lucky i couldn't find a match anywhere . . . .

Mrs H's bucket is an FXR powered (?) by a Loncin 150cc single, very similar to a Honda XR/XL.

I was talking to Max yesterday, he was having issues witht he pegs scraping.
    Lap times....
I'm just a back marker....saying that improved lots yesterday....those slicks sure are grippy. Even did a bit of passing....late on the brakes round the outside....lots of fun.....no style....

Looking like we need a second bike...I dunno if its worth bothering with the 74' cb 125 I have. Was my wifes then a mate pulled it apart and put alloy wheels on it, fancy shocks, and tls brake....I have a 140 kit for it .....
Probably should at least get it going....hasn't been used since 1993.
