hampton downs will have big problems because they cannot get marshalls.....they need at least 30, (puki-12) They provide no vouchers or lunch some days (puki-petrol vouchers and lunch) for two day events they charge marshalls for accommodation......im not complaining...voluteers are what they are...good people who like to help.....im just stating why they will struggle to get people...and if they don't get marshall's...there won't be racing.....
Good call cmoore, I remember you 'flaggies' discussing it at Puke the other day. 30 flaggies is a lot for NZ. And the petrol vouchers and lunch are a given for guys who give up their weekends to sweat it out in overalls for no money. That sucks, the tight bastards! Go the Flaggies, should have a sit-in at midday if the lunch van does not turn up. Flaggies need pies!
HAH!!!.....we got lunch at Pareoa....and accommodation and a bari.....mind you lunch was given to us in the morning.......but all good.....I hope they sort it out....if i was them i would look at lights or automatic flaggy machines....to wave the flags....just wait until they extend the track......
WTF............christ they charged me 200 clams to do a track day there.........and there was no shortage of bikes attending.....surly they coiuld spring for lunch for the marshalls...........

mmmmmm..........pies.........or how about giving people that Marshall one day a half price deal or free track day another time............that would work for me...........Hamptons a great track but 200 bucks.........think i would rather do 2 control days at Puke for 90 bucks each...........theres one this saturday BFTPers...........
The Vic club gives marshalls a $50 fuel voucher and a good lunch. If its a 2 day meet they pay for cabins at the local motorcamp( great in winter) or pay you the price of the room and you can stay at the track. Usually have a few beers and a BBQ supplied too. We do the same thing at the pacific club. We have a good crew of skilled marshalls and look after them, most of them do the Vic club rounds as well, our clubs work well together. The 2 day meetings are great fun with all the flaggys, racers and race officials camping at the Track, we have been camping the night before a meeting , much easier to get up and race than drive for hours in the morning A race meeting doesnt happen without good staff ! I have the letter from MNZ about the required marshalls for Hampton Downs, alot needed for the track Be hard to get that many all the time, be worse when the track is finished The HB kart track has yellow and red lights at the flag points now. All controlled from a tower over loooking the track. Havnt been to a kart meeting to see how well it works yet, only seen it when we run buckets there
HD won't have problems getting marshals for the big car and bike National rounds. Clubs who hire the track will usually supply their own marshals. It's the track training days and small club runs that may experience manning difficulties. It's not a new phenomena either, as we used to struggle to get enough marshals for Clubmans meetings at Manfield in the late 70's. That was with the short track then, too. HD's track quality won't diminish over marshaling short comings. IMO, it's still a country mile better than the alternative NI venues. It will only get better once the full track is completed. Now, value for your money is another story. Usually, if you've got something special, people will pay. Bloody pity HD isn't closer to HB.
