Shit the redundancy thing looms large alright. I dodged it as we made people redundant last year before the 'financial meltdown'. Aparantley the buisness is keen to expand the aluminium lines that I run so I should be safe, I've heard that before.

The logo is something to do with machines most sheetfed offset printers should've run but it would seem not many here (including myself) do.

    Hey up,

I'm a signwriter by trade but got out of that and now run a Colorspan 72UVX display maker which is a roll fed flatbed which cure with UV lamps. Prints directly to the media, we print mostly corflute but do ACM, foamcore and is able to print roll to roll.

We also have a seiko colorpainter 64 which is roll fed and prints to 3m sticky back vinyls as well as some canvas and other materials.

    cheers, Paul.

We had some REAL old presses! One was from the 50's I think the other was early 60's. They never broke down - not like the newer ones.

We have several pieces of Heidelberg stuff now - not one uses paper in any form. Other equipment includes an Inca Spyder (large format flatbed inkjet), a Hewlett-Packard
Z6100, print and cut inkjets, banner printers, blah, blah...

    Hi Everyone,

I've just finished my first full colour catalogue for the electronics company where I work. It has taken about 8 months, and turned out to be 484 pages long!! Has just gone to the press over in China, so fingers crossed I will see a sample copy the end of this week.

Would be good to have some more local printing contacts though, for business cards, posters and all the other things our company will need in the future...

Ooh this page is a bit dead. I'm gonna post anyway.
I'm an intermediate graphic designer working at an educational children's book publishers. Been here two years since I graduated, starting to think about branching out into another specialisation soon.
I do a bit of everything. Layout, illustration, Pre-press, retouching, blah etc. Pretty varied job which is fun.

Sounds like you got your self a fun job.
We print a lot of learning media and school journal kids books at work, some of the design and content that goes into them is amazing!
