Letter arrived today from Customs....who's logo reads " Protecting New Zealands Border"

    As from July 1:
New Import Transacton Fee ....ITF....$24.75 ( $22 plus GST) on all goods over $400....but sometimes goods less than that will attract the fee.

    and

Their mates MAF wouldn't want to miss out at the trough would they.....

A MAF Biosecurity System Entry Levy or BSEL of $12.50 including GST.....can't have the Govt missing out can we...

so there you are ....your imported bike parts now net the Govt and extra $37.25....

This plus the usual GST, and don't forget its on the postage too......

So I have this invoice with all the new 'extras' added and as far as I can tell its not yet July 1...

check it out at out their funky website...dub dub dubcustomes.govt.nz

Thanks for the heads up Volti. I need some custom pistons for my next project, so I'll order them now and hopefully beat the latest revenue take.

    Cunts.

If we go back to the introduction of GST, it was to get rid of all the nasty little taxes like these.

Now we GST, it's going up again, and they are re-introducing the nasty litle taxes again. I reckon if you challenged it in court, this tax would get thrown out on that basis.

Anyone got pockets deep enough to take on the Government?

Looks like IRD are feeling the loss of revenue resulting from the recession we are having...
They are getting Customs to collect the GST for them....so Customs charge the taxpayer for the pleasure of being charged....then the fecking government adds GST.
And they charge you GST on the postage....
Next time I'm away on business I must remember to watch a few movies, knock back a bottle of Bolly, whilst downing cavier.....all tax deductable.....and a chopper ( .... the flying one not the Chris Carter one) and massage....
