Bloody Chooks. Thanks guys appreciate the input, I will let you know the outcome
Not really "Winter Garden"... but my minature pohutukawa tree is in bloom! Stupid bloody thing. This means it is X-mas??
LOL now that is funny! I think we will see early flowering of all sorts of things this season, mild winter up here, but we had a real cold snap in autumn that will have confused a few things.
Hmm. Pohutukawa continues to flash red, and also the garlic has some shoots up above the surface of the soil. This surprises me since the area is not getting any direct sunlight on the ground at all. An interesting crop!
spuds:i have always grown mine by just putting the seed potatoe on the ground, then i just cover with a pile of hay. this way you can just lift the hay a little and help yourself to the new spuds without killing the whole plant. and of course the spuds are clean,i.e dirt free. i am sure that you could do the same in bags, containers.
