....my first bike was a t250 hustler, nearly new, upswept pipes and big damage waiting to happen, still got some original scars 38 years later, i race a pair of t250ish things now, a t20 and a gt250, back then ,after scaring the shit out of myself and getting fairly damaged i saw the light and bought a honda, some time just after that i became a lazy four stroke rider, needless to say , now i race a cb350/Four, its a 72 but i race pre 82 with it, saves the shit with disc brake moaners...shootin' back to then, a lot of years ago... the ripping cackle of a kwake triple was the sound that taunted me, real men or real mentals rode them, not me.....some years later i raced a pair of yamahas, best motors, least hassles anyway, that i have abused, never a thought for the marque that impressed me enough to avoid , way back...well, recently in a fit of angst over this whole kawasaki debacle, of me not having the fortitude to own one...i cured it , i bought a pair, a pre 82 kr1 and a pre 89 gpx750, really quite unnecessary but fuck it all, theres not as much time as there was, to cure it....wouldnt mind some input on the kr1, have heard enough to know they are a dark art and on the other hand , simple enough...

My first bike was a T350, and I still have the scars too. The GPX is an under-rated bike I feel. The 'cure' for a KR1 seems to be a 500cc four stroke engine.

Is the early KR1 a parallel twin or those twin crank cylinder behind each other engines?

I have got some info somewere about those in a book 'Speed Machines" published in the 80's , chocka full of old (new then) race bikes. Has a good section about the Armstrong race bikes

My T20 needs some attention...............Not sure of its place in the que tho...............I must issue numbers to my fleet

Theres heaps of info on them here, not doubt you have seen this site tho, I have read somewere about RGV parts fitting, i will try and find the magizine

There info about cranks in the racing section, and about fitting TZ/RD cranks, Fitting a RZ crank could be a option too, There only $600 for a brand new one, TSS is a Aussie company but the parts are all in Tauranga,

    http://www.twostrokeshop.com/RZRD350...afts.htm#18054

What are the dimensions of your T20 crank? The RZ cranks are 2mm wider than LC and they machine 0.5mm off each side and you use a offset bearing locator half ring.

I dont know what the size difference of air cooled RD are to LC,

Good news about more strokers racing, good about the new proposed F3 rules too, 350 stroke allowed now

....back to kawasakis....a couple or more years ago i just about picked up the kawasaki of my dreams...an h1 in what was thought to be, but proved otherwise, a Mackintosh frame....not only was it there in front of me and the words were forming on my lips, 'dont worry about wrapping it, i'll take it as it is,.....it had at one point been the national holder of a straight line speed record and i was in love....the kawasaki mental block kicked in and a day or so later i was the owner of the mov velocette that i have posted a pic of.....i was never going to get trapped in the CLASSIC racing trap, jappy posties were all that was required....not so i have found....the mov is the sexiest machine i have ever owned and takes pride of place in my collection....
