yeah there are some really nice post classic bikes out there...here was my fav....oh the memories...
The blue one was pretty nice too. Nowadays a very expensive bike to thrash. Look at the low spec tyres on it
Very light weight/lightly braced frames on them Kawakas. It's no wonder they dived erratically in corners when hammered. Aren't they allowed to modify the frames in this class of racing? Here's a nice 350LC down south, all ready to race!! Do you know the present owner RDjace? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-259515568.htm
Yep, I raced him last year at TRRS, and beat him .....just , by the tread on the front tyre lol. I lent him my CDI and electrics to sort out the miss it had to do Greymouth street races. Nice bike that one
Dangerous on KB, nice guy- owns a Guzzi and can really ride
Those l"ow spec tyres " on Boney's H1 are TT100GP's. The GP bit means the same compound as the D207/8/9GP DOT production race tyre.... The TT100 got it's name from being the first road legal tyre to lap the Isle of Man at 100mph average. On a Trident if I recall. They are one of the 3-4 best options for 18 inmch race tyres these days. Avons (huge price 800-900 a pair), or Dulop TT900GP (same compound) but limited sizes, Dunlop KR's see the price guide for Avons!), TT100GP are better sizes for narrowe rims and also 2/3rd the price of Avons. Hope that helps explain why you see guys raciing on them. Cheers folks!
I got a 2nd hand set of Avons for my LC, mega sticky, My sport demons hot feel the same as the Avons cold Yet to try them, all bikes and racing on hold while doing house stuff What are the TT100's worth and who is a supplier? Are TT900's still available?
Jase Forbes and Davies are the Dunlop Importer. Your local bike shop will be abale to gte prices and sizes. F&D will tell you the TT900Gp are longer available, but the boys in Aussie get them no problems. Peter Stevens motorcycles in Melborne will airmail them over no problems. 18 inch sizes are 90/90, 100/90, 120/80 and 140/70. Peter Stevens is owned by the same group that owns Monza Imports - the Vic Dunlop importer. Come to Phillip Island in Jan fior the Island Classic and you can buy at the circuit!
Come to Phillip Island in Jan fior the Island Classic and you can buy at the circuit! I was wanting to go this year and pit for Andy Macdonald on his LC.................. time, money and right in the middle of my busy season at work didnt help matters The Hiendau (not sure of the spelling) race tyres look good too. A mate with a RZ was running TT900's and said you coudnt get them any more and is going to try the Hiendau's. i will tell him the Dunlops are still available from Aus Just waiting on the new F3/Sportbike rules to see if I can build my RZ350 powered TZR
Hiedenau's: hhmmm spoke to a very very good (like winner of the UK Classic Race of the Year) rider last month about them (he did a weekend on one at Phillip Island) and he shook his head.... I guess each to their own. I've seen other comments about lack of feedback. TT900GP: I'd ring Peter Stevens tyre department and have a chat. It seems F&D can't get them but they can. F&D ae telling people they are NLA, but they are still being made I believe.
