My neighbour looked over the fence and was amazed that I was building a deck... " Wow can you do stuff like that....?" .... like I was buiding a rocket or something.... I'm trying to instill some of this " have a go" in my kids. As Jeremy Clarkson often says " How hard can it be....what could possibly go wrong...?" My kids like doing stuff but they want to see results immediately not in months...... I blame computers for that....and soft parents.
Well we must be a bit backward down here, 'cause I have to lock the garage to stop the kids from "making" stuff. ....... Over the weekend I stripped my chainsaw down and cleaned the carb out, I had 2 helpers while I was trying to set the high and low speed jets. Had to keep my head on a swivel to make sure they weren't getting chopped up
Yes poverty for me, apprentice wages were less than the dole. I sometimes wonder how simple life would be if everything just worked because it was new-ish and I paid someone to make it work if it fails. The only new-ish thing I have is my farm quad and there is no sharp intake of breath every time I push the button to start it because it starts, every time. And no, it's not a Honda Unfortunately a lot of the boy racer or import car fans I have talked to either get someone to do the mods, bolt on things or a bit of both. One guy couldn't tell me what an intercooler actually did for performance but got one put on his Imprezza anyway
I watch a lot of the house building / renovation programmes on telly and was saying to someone the other day, how come they are happy to spend 1000's on some swishy flash pad but they NEVER EVER have a garage. Another bunch of kids that'll grow up without a clue.
