Just picked up new Classic Bike and bit on Croz. He's building replicas of his race bikes. 2 x Z1's and 2 x Z1R's 1 each in standard spec and 1 in superbike trim Aparantly there is an internet advert I'll have to see if I can find it.
Give Rattis a 'makeover'......
NoNoNo. If you want a Croz replica, you have to get one of these. http://www.silverstonesuperbikes.co.uk/xr69_5.html When I win Lotto I will have one for sure. Question is: Is it BFTP eligible?
Dont listen to Volty. The opinion of one who rides italian is suspect.
Could be worse he could ride a Jappa Oh yeah I want a Yoshi Katana but there's fuck all chance of that happening either
I think it is great that he is actually building the bikes himself. Croz must be of the last bunch of racers that had hands on work with the bikes they took to the track, ask Casey Stoner to build a Moto GP Ducati in 20 years time... They will be a true collector bike for sure, and just having the man himself doing the work- even if it is just the assembly, is fantastic and rare. Of course a good collector would buy the first bike he finishes then put a hit out on Croz to make it more valuable....
Croz has tracked down the people who made his original gear such as the pistons and wheels. In particular the exhaust systems, which are quite distinctive. I spotted an ad for a Croz-built Z1R a few months ago on trademe. When he released his book I shamelessly called on him to get one signed. We've known each other for a long time, although contact over the years has been sporadic so I wouldn't claim to be a close friend (he's very much a what you see is what you get person, no bullshit.) He was in the middle of restoring a Z1 to concours condition and it was looking superb. He's a trained mechanic and has a very good workshop set up at home, including some very substantial kit such as lathes. A croz-built Kawasaki would be a very cool bike to own and I'd kill for the Z1. I reckon they are the best looking Japanese production motorcycle ever (with the possible exception of the NR750). I plan to shamelessly foist myself onto him again over Christmas so will try to get some photos and post them up here. Should be some decent progress on the bikes by now.
good BFTP destination......
We should make it a group BFTP ride. Having a whole bunch of us descend on him would really make his day.
To be honest, I think the same thing. When I get to see him over Christmas I'll raise the subject and see what he says. Would the best timing be when one of the Crozbikes is complete?
Yes please on the pictures if you can Bender As for a BFTP ride to his place, if I saw us lot coming up the drive the shotgun would magically find it's way into my arms with cartridges in each barrel
As for a BFTP ride to his place, if I saw us lot coming up the drive the shotgun would magically find it's way into my arms with cartridges in each barrel True... Voltaire has that effect on people.

"Hey, is that a smoking gun over there in the distance?" "naw, just Voltaire's Darmah, son."
