Anyone know where I can get KZ1000 con-rods ? No luck on interwebby (still waiting replies from a couple of places). Seems they have to come with crank as a complete set ! "To you sir, a snip at $3500" Pistons aren't a problem, can get Big Bore Wisecos up to 1105cc for $800. Next option is to strip no 1 motor (broken crankcase) and see if its internals are good enough to put in no 2 cases (assuming they're compatible) No 2 crank, bearings etc seem fine, just small ends are knackered and I don't think there's enough meat on them (approx .2mm) to clean them up. Even then, it means splitting the crank and THEN you might as well replace the bearings and THEN etc etc.
might be time to pull #1 apart?

Tried every man and his dog. Will have to inspect internals on no1. If all else fails I can get little ends machined out and bushed. So all is not yet lost.
Just got motor out of no 1 bike, will get that stripped tomorrow. Oh, the anticipation. Definately looks we'll be using cases from no 2 motor. Pay attention at the back - i'll be asking questions later.
So, this thing will be running by Xmas?
I wish! Gotta give Yorky 10 out of 10 for sheer pigheaded persistance.. That and frequent phone calls to keep me updated. If #1 or #2 dont give us enough parts...we still have #3 in reserve. Anyone interested in slightly used 82 zed motor parts? Garunteed pulled apart and inspected.
