Day Two: Californicating Took the 'smelly californicator" out for a spin today, to see a couple of mates and guage reaction. Finally getting the hang of the toe/heel pedals and foot operated front brake. Mate # 1 was shocked to see me on a Guzzi ....let alone a Cali..... I found that it has the turning circle of a EH Holden.....the wide bars offer lots of leverage. Sports bikes don't wave....and as I don't have a matt black helmet either do my Harley bros....kids on trikes wave as the fishtail exhausts bellow out " guzzi coming...move aside" Mate # 2 thought it was really cool.. especially the sound of the powerful V twin...even down to the metal flake paint and acres of chrome. After lunch I might take it for a long ride... up to Bunnings.....
Don't you need jodhpurs and shiny tall black boots to ride one of those?
Why Bunnings? Did something fall of it?
Do Bunnings sell Geofff Duke replica pudding bowl helmets? That's what you need for the Guzzi. Don't forget the photos now... "My Ride Report to Bunnings and how I fitted an extension ladder, two sheets of ply and a sack of cement on my Guzzi."
No he's going to tow a chipper home with it.
I hear they are good for Pizza delivery......
Bonez Why Bunnings? Did something fall of it? Heehee, classic! Nah Volty is going to add the woodgrain to her being such a good chippie. One day you should jump on the Mk1 or Mk2 Volty, and see how different the Calli is from them even though every part could be interchanged- including the frames
Big adventure today, took Declan for a ride to Qualitats to get bearings and rings for VW motor ( a result of scope creep). We then went off into town to go to Deuz for a coffee....but they were closed. Got the nod from a Bro on a Harley and the wave from a Rocket 111 rider.....must be the 4 bends.... Two up is not really that comfortable as the pilion is right on the bars and my knee was doing a good impersonation of a steak on the barbie against the cylinder head......
Saw a bike on a toy run recently that had fittings from Bunnings. tap turning things on the fork stanchions and gas on/off tap. coins and brass strapping on the tank even a hand grenade on one side of the frame. Was a seriously fiddled with Zook. didnt talk to the owner so not sure if it was just cosmetic or included engine fiddling. was a thing of beauty to be sure. rough as guts and obviously loved and a work in progress. Next time I'll grab a pic and the owner and force the details from him.
Many thanks to Dodgy for letting a woman he'd only known for a few minutes take the Cali for a ride...on the strength of if she's my wife then she must know how to ride.Well she can of course, and has all her own gear that she still fits....although I found out later the pair of nice fitting Levi's were mine.Nice to see her tootle off down the drive, and then back again in what felt like 2 hours later - saw her correct the torque reaction of the bike as she took off. I forgot to get a photo - we need to do it all over again Dodgy.
