I thought Guzzis and BMW's were compression engines...
as opposed to compressor motors like Ducati?
easy buy a HONDA opps will I get censored and culled
easy buy a HONDA opps will I get censored and culled My fist bike was a Honda SL125....then a SL125 with an XR 200 motor....then a 500/4......and in London I had a CG 125. That's the Honda box well and truly ticked. at least your keeping you post count up.... Fear the Guzzireaper....
Open to all makes and models, no culling for personal taste. I have had my lapses over the years... here is my last 'onda lurking in the background. It was a good bike, had Honda linked type brakes sort of like a Guzzi but it was waaay overkill for commuting. Dunno what I was thinking, I bought it from the wreckers in Japan along with a Ducati Monster, sold the Monster once I fixed it up and kept the Honda..figure that out Actually it was a great bike with a really good fairing for winter and the brakes were really confidence inspiring in all conditions but it was far too fast for me, it did 180km/h in second gear
At least hot tube ignition was RELIABLE.
Only a Dodgy brings a Guzzi picture to a Lucas thread.....
One thing I like about Lucas electrics is the colour coding - it makes sense, and is applied consistently.I hate Japanese electrics because you have 2 wires going into a connecting block, and 2 completely different coloured wires coming out the otherside - WTF?.Black for earth, red for live, green for switched, brown for charging, purple for horn - a problem if you are blind, but for the rest of us it works well.
Well, yes, but in Joe's time, those five wires were the only ones a bike HAD. And a Beeza Bantam only had two! Gennie to switch, switch to headlamp (OK & a a split to the taillamp)
I always wondered what those wires were on my Bantam.
Well, they never actually DID much, on account of the lamp bulbs always being blown , on account of the voltage spikes. But if you replaced the bulbs in the testing station forecourt they usually lasted long enough to get a WoF. After that you taped a torch to the handlebars if out at night.
