Thought X-ring was the go these dayz? The 0'ring chain on my gsx750 did 52,000kms and was still on the bike when I sold it. Sprockets were ok too. Good ol 90 weight gear oil does the slippery thing. Current GSX has the OEM chain and sprockets still on it after 23,000kms and 30 years. Dunno what all the fuss is about really.
630 non O ringed chain on the coal burner tookmit to the chain experts, they picked it up, flexed it, got about 4 inches of rise in it, gave it back to me said "put it back in" Asked me how far it had gone, i told them 107000K's, they bloody near choked on thier collective coffees. Found an engineering firm who had a non O ringed link for nixs, Chain, guards and sprockets all good as new.

A correctly tensioned chain with adequate lubrication, operating in an enclosed chamber free from road grime, rain and crud will have a very long life expectancy as long as it is operating within its load design parameters. Enclosed chain-cases aren't very popular though, because they make rear wheel removal/refitting a complete PITA.
Removing the rear wheel is a piece of cake, it's when you HAVE to remove the damn swing arm too that it becomes a problem, believe me I've come to know the back end of a XV quite well over the last 4 months.
caseye believe me I've come to know the back end of a XV quite well over the last 4 months. Ewww!
