Well, who happened to be watching tv at the prime hour of 6:30 AM ? Got woken by Yorkie junior and retired to bed with McVities Choccie Digestives (proper Pommie Digestives - non of yer funny kiwi cardboard, but, I digress) and what happens to be on?

LOVE, SPEED, LOSS. The Kim Newcombe doco.

Think I only caught the last half and doubtless a lot of you have probably seen it before but it was REALLY good.
Interviews with his wife, Phil Read and Chas Mortimer also his mechanic who as a lot of his old stuff including a copy of the Konig he's built over the years.
Gave a real insight into the way things were run back then. Heaps of footage including his crash at Silverstone. 1st time I've seen that, lost front end going into Stowe, even now that's a dodgy corner but at least it as heaps of protection. You have to be pretty unlucky to hit anything now. I didn't realise Vernon Cooper was the Clerk of the Course at that meeting. He went on to be head of ACU and was a complete tosser then as well. Thought he was gods gift and didn't give a c##p about riders. I had a couple of run ins with him when I was sidecar safety rep.
