Riding British bikes for so many years,I probably lost quite a few things.Lost the left pipe of my Triton once,it was a one piece held on by one bolt and clamped to the exhaust stub. But like most 8 stud alloy heads the stub was stripped.Maybe I had a spare bolt in my pocket,as there were no extra bolts to rob on the minimalist Triton.

When building my BSA I couldn't find a rear wheel amongst all my junk,so fitted a Yamaha YDS3 wheel that happened to be lying on the floor...I used a tyre lever as a brake anchor stay. One day when doing a tyre change I had a mate help me - I thought he...he thought I....Coming down West Rd in Clevedon which was very steep and gravel, the brake stay feel off. This was a seriously steep hill, with a right angle S bend at the bottom.Digging deep, digging deep....but I got around those 2 corners without falling off.

When a mate of mine and me where doing a mechanic apprentiships he had a yamaha 80 "land scout"? or something like that, we called it the Egg Beater or Kitcken Whizz, . Bright yellow (just for Bender) he was always working at home and would bring his tool chest home between his knees on that tank in the weekends.

Friday evening me and another mate Kerry waiting at Marks place, here the Egg Beater aproaching the fresh road works on the corner by his olds house, Typical mark, grease on his glasses, a few beers and more than likely a joint before he had left the after work drinks rides straight past the road works sign into the corner and down comes the Kitchen Whizz, tool box opens , tools every were , Kerry and I pissing our selves as we go over to help him up. Hes cursing about no road works signs as we point to them there all the way down the dug up road he has been riding on for 500 mtrs

I had a C200 90cc Honda at that stage, (mid 80s) and Mark borrowed it to go to work on when the engine was out of the egg Beater, he ran out of gas and left it on the side off the road, went to get it later .................gooooooooooooooooone............. .......never to be seen again

My handlebars fell off , on a 650 Triumph once , about 10 mile out of Whangarei. They broke in the middle and the two halves slid out through the eye type bar holders. Jammed one back in (dropped the other, which dangled by the clutch cable), and managed to stop OK with a half bar, loosely attached. Luckily every town had a bike shop then and the one in Whangarei had bars for sale.

I seem to have a habbit of zorsts falling off, most of my bikes manage it sooner or later. Or else blow their boffles out. Is cool though stopped ta the lights with blue flames shooting out by the front wheel.

Lost a pair of waterproof trou a while back, and lost my lunch (uneaten) the other week. I now have a new bag (untorn) for the back of ffwwabbitt.

On an early morning run to the Naki with the Ashhurst crowd. Passing through Marton in the dark looked in the rear veiw mirror and no ones was following they'd all stopped for some reason. Turned around to see what the fuss was. Apparently I'd ridden over a raised pedestrian crossing a bit quickly and my thermos decided to launch itself at the oncoming riders. Thankfully the thermos only got with a few dings. It's now somewhere on the Cold Kiwi grounds half full of Stone's Green ginger wine. I miss that thermos..............

...Thankfully the thermos only got with a few dings
Did the said following riders, at whom the unguided thermos was launched, also escape with only a few dings ?

Obviously they were a bit traumatized by the event. Were all laughing their tits off. No damage elsewhere. It was a good days riding as it turned out.
