Spot on kiwifruit...the Rd and H1 get my vote
After the war the Russians got most of the industry, the Americans got the Rocket Scientists...and the Brits got the Bantam...they started up VW but gave it back......
i think the japs stole the 2 stroke from an east german who escaped....
Some how,as a loser,they also got victor's spoils....the DKW.
Walter Kaaden did the development of the expansion chamber for the 2 stroke.... he also was involved in the V1 pulse rocket.... MZ had difficulty racing outside the Socialist Paradise that was East Germany and one day when they were in the evil west their main rider did a runner...Uri Gregarin or summit ( not Googling here)..... and low and behold next season Suzuki had a 2 stroke that was competitive. Fortunately the free west had moved on from lawnmower and weed eater motors and 2 strokes were never heard from again..... Uri did not live happily ever after. Some names and facts have been changed due to dead brain cells...
yes..almost true.....except for the moved on part.........2 strokes dominated the world for many years...until good old Honda returned to racing...and decided he could make as much power with a 4 stroke by increasing the revolutions....ummmm 22,000 of them......
My lasting memory of 2 strokes is the smell of Eastern Europe in the late 80's....air thick with oil and coal.....Poor people had MZ's and CZ's and the better off had Trabants and the ones who sucked the party line had Wartburgs.
If you look on thekneeslider.com you will see that Norton Villiers have reinvented the two smoke and this will revolutionise motoring as we know it. Actually a modern two stoke in a Commando would start all sorts of comments. It would sound different and would have only half the number of parts to break. Wouldn't it be great to ride downhill ring ding ding ding....... Anyway, check it out.
Wartburg. It even sounds like class.
revolutionise motoring as we know it. WOW - a sucky blowy Norton with no wheels! I've been waiting all my life for the motor vehicle with no wheels....we were promised this when I was a kid in the '50's.
I was promised this future... Hanna Barbera lied to me....
I can't see Norton doing one in green though...
Volty My lasting memory of 2 strokes is the smell of Eastern Europe in the late 80's.... Wassamatter? You couldn't keep up wih Jason on yer sissy modern bike at the HB rally?
