Great that is NZ new. No dodgy parts bin special then.

I would have expected that the engine and frame numbers would have been closer though. The info for that sort of thing seems to be a bit scarce for Kwakas.
The Japs didn't seem to care for matching numbers. Their assembly line staff just threw any engine into the frame to complete the job. NEXT!!!

Suzuki and Yamaha ran matching numbers back then - except on the budget models. I would expect Kawasaki had their own oddball system that made sense to them. Would be the Italians who threw any engine into a frame just to get it out the door.

I've got a workshop manual buried in my library, if you need I'd be glad to scan for you. Also, anyone else, I've a fair amount of stuff, mainly early Honda, Suzi and Yam.

Workshop manual would be awesome, thanks!

Picked it up today. Went for the one that is a runner with 41000miles rather than the one with 6000miles (not running, not rego'd etc and in the same condition). Pretty rapt with it! It isn't mint but it's in good condition.

Will take better pics but here it is in the lounge tonight:

If you don't mind raceramesh, i'd love a scan of the manual.

Going to take the bike over to Ian Burke in Whakatane. It could be running a little better and Ian is the man with the passion so i'll let him work his magic.

I didn't ever get to try a 500 but we had various 250,350 and 400cc models about the place, only a $400-500 bike back then (mid eighties) rode them till they broke then threw them away
