Is there a platers that anyone can recommend? MUST be good + reliable. I was going to start rebuilding wheel for Matchless today. Was only re-chromed a few weeks ago and rust is coming through Going to go back on monday and see what they say but i've got a heap more stuff to get done and don't particularly want to use this crowd again.
Not in Welly Yorkie sorry, a few of us use a crowd in West Auckland with 'mixed results'
I've been using a chrome-plater in Hamilton recently called Advanced Plating, in Ellis Street. Their website is www.plating.co.nz George the owner is a member and sponsor of the Waikato Classic Motorcycle Club, and has a personal collection of bikes. I've dealt with them a few times in the last 12 months and been happy with the results. There was one item that they did for me a few months ago that I wasn't happy with, but they took it back without question and did it again at no charge. i have no connection other than as a customer, YMMV etc
http://www.progressiveelectroplaters.co.nz/ This is the first company i ever used. They did an outstanding job. But i thought they were expensive so went to another couple of places for other parts later on... only to return to Progressive's and am now happy to pay whatever they ask... if you get my drift... Once, I asked the boss at Progressives if he thought the bolts he were to chrome for me would stand repeated tightening and loosening without the chrome being damaged... his answer was to look me in the eye obviously trying to figure out if i was provoking him deliberatly or out of ignorance... that stare compelled me to add: "i'm asking as i had some previous such experience where the chrome started peeling off after using tools on the part"... to that he said with a cool: "we never had that problem". i believe him...
Thanks lads, I've no problem paying for quality. I may get in touch with the 1 in Hamilton. Also going to have a word with the guys at custom/hot rod shop here to see if they can recommend anyone.
