I knew Bob Burns well back in the 1980's when I lived in Christchurch. I worked with his son Dave, who was the sales manager at Doug Cresswell Suzuki. Bob was always buying new bikes, each one faster than the last. He bought the first GSX1100 we sold in 1981. I caught up with an old friend a few years ago and Bob was mentioned then, apparently he was still riding till just before he passed away, I understand he had done the brass monkey and something happened and he never really recovered from it and passed away soon after this.
He was a genuine gentleman, a really neat old guy.
