Looking for pre 1963 Triumph parts, anything considered. Gathering up parts to make a tug for a sidecar. Specifically: 1950 to 1954 rigid frame. 650 engine or parts. Transmission or parts.
Sidecar tugger eh? Why not put a VW in a BMW frame and hitch the hack to that, no good can come from a puny Triumph engine- it will be slower than your Ural
no good can come from a puny Triumph engine- it will be slower than your Ura I liked the Chaing Jaing....it was fun.....slow but fun. A Hinckley Bonnie would be good but back to the rego cost....but I don't really want to waste a good solo on a hack. I have a 73 frame....and a VW motor......hmmmmmm...A BVMW or BMVW...
I once built a Triumph for hauling a chair, but never got it going. It was a twin downtube preunit frame which have a steeper rake, then fitted raked yokes which brought the trail down to about 2.5'',good for sidecar use. The forks were some hybrid of early uppers and late lowers with the 7'' twin leading shoe front brake. The engine was a late preunit 500 into which I fitted a late model Tiger 650 crank....with a stroker plate it was about 550cc. Some 8:1 slipper pistons,a big port 5T head and twin carb manifolds, and E3134 cams. I think it would've made a pretty good tug.
