Just sent you an email Col, sounds interesting. Cheers diggers, feels like I'm in limbo, as you say you'd think someone would come round and physically take it. There is a worded legal document in the LTSA regs saying that anyone with my condition can't drive for 12 months at least. And also is the word of the docos etc law?? Obviously not, but I guess I have to apply some common sense in regards to the safety of other road users. The funny thing is, I jumped in a few cars today and went for test drives without even thinking. Have to double take now. I guess I'd be kinda happy in a warped way if someone came round and said, give me your licence for 12 months. Then it's finished, right there and then. Oh well, wait and see Best me get another old bike to tinker with in the interim I think.
Hey Dooly, not sure of all the ins and outs but if you have/had or having seizures I'm pretty sure you are banned from driving for 2 years after which time I think you can go to the doctor who checks if you are fit to drive. Good luck
Not many Guzzi projects around but heres a Commando one... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-409211098.htm Spend about 15K on it and you'd have a nice 9 k bike.
The Norton seller says "No stupid offers". I guess that covers any offer.
Its really just a pile of swap meet parts mocked up to look promicing....
Kinda gone off Commando's Volty, and old Brits, always fancied a Guzzi, so me and Col may have to chat..., see what happens. Tatey, yeah had some seizures, they aint sure exactly what caused them, can't find a cause, so don't know what dose of meds to give me so are guessing atm with the dosage size, 10 pills in the morn for starters, some kind of epilepsy, but the 4th seizure in 1 hr was almost fatal.........so I'm told, can't remember, which is good. Got to see some specialists this week and had some bloods done Friday so it might pick up something. But I have had some small ones in the last week or so. But they were all adamant, 12 months for the driving.
Hi. Firstly, bugger, sorry. Secondly, hope it all sorts itself out. Thirdly: Law is here: Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Rule 1999 (SR 1999/100) S80 (1) : The Agency may, if it considers that allowing a person to continue to hold a driver licence is, for medical reasons, a significant risk to public safety, issue a notice suspending that person's driver licence until a medical examination has been completed and reviewed. A notice issued under subclause (1) must be in writing and must— (a) state the date and time from which the driver licence is suspended (which must not be earlier than the date and time that the notice is delivered to the person); and (b) state the reasons for the suspension of the driver licence; and (c) state the period of suspension of the driver licence; and (d) outline the rights of appeal given by section 106 of the Act. And a NZTA guide for doctors is here http://nzta.govt.nz/resources/medical-aspects/docs/medical-aspects.pdf Long and short: If a doctor thinks that a person is medically unsafe to drive he/she has a legal obligation to notify the "Agency" (ie NZTA). Who then send you a notice saying they are pulling your licence. You can appeal, and ask for a practical test, though in a case like this the test is probably irrelevant - ie, the medical argument will be that you are a perfectly fine driver - right up until the moment you black out at the wheel . Not saying that would happen, just that would be their argument. So, legally you have a licence and can drive until you get a notice. However, a lot of doctors don't want to go through the bother, especially as undoing the suspension is even more bureaucratic. So they just give you a verbal "Don't drive until I OK it " message. And so long as nobody (like a spouse) dobs you in , and as long as nothing goes wrong, no-one will know. If someone ignores the doctor's advice and keeps driving, and doc finds out, he may (probably will) invoke the formal process. The most common way the doctor finds out is family dobbing the driver in (" He just won't stop, doctor").
Cheers Ixion. Have'nt heard anything yet and I was told not to drive on 23 Sept. Am going to the neuro dudes tommorrow so will enquire a bit more.......but not too much.
