BTW, I've been to Taylors a few times and always got the "yea yea yea just leave it with us and dont you worry" kinda attitude and everyone in the shop worked at pace as if on steroids, but as you can read above, it's important to me to deal with someone who's got the time / patience to explain things so i can learn and make informed decisions.

Can't believe after all the recommendations about Taylors on this forum you went to.... I can't even say their name, say it 3 times and your rods will blow out the crankcase.

I must admit I get treated well at Taylors, maybe that has come over 20 years of using them and Dr Bob putting a good word in over the years. No matter how they treat you as a person, and as long as you are respectfull ( as in; don't keep asking how they can do this or that cheaper) they will do a good job...

the guy mic'ed the exhaust valves / guides and they are (still) well within factory tolerances so all good there. i agreed that lubricating the stems with oil was what caused the perceived before/after difference in the valve fitting so no hard feelings there. i have sooo much to learn lol
