I've got chance of a bike frame but it MAY have a slightly dodgy past I'm going to check the numbers out and if it is a bit iffy - Is there a statute of limitations on nicked bits ? Am I likely to get my collar felt if I declare it ? Is it possible to get dodgy frames re-registered. I'm looking at getting it anyway as it's a possibility for base for a special and I can always use it as a pattern to make a replica. Just like to know if it's safe to put this one back on road.
Hi Yorky. I don't fancy the chances of re-registering a known dodgy frame. Checking out the numbers could be a mission too. In spite of what John Key said, our coppers do not have a lot of spare time so you may get the run around trying to get a definite answer. As an example, years ago I was at my mates place when he had his collar felt for trying to sell a dodgy rolling frame and motor. It took six months to get it all sorted and the bits returned to him. The bit that made me laugh was that he had bought it at the Police recovered property auction a year before. Left hand - right hand etc..
