What do the 70 + ( ) members have to say about it... Fuckem
can't someone set up a proper vote thingy??....and i thought the question was "should the BFTP criteria be pre 90's bikes (which really means bikes from the 80's)" or " bikes 20(or was it 30?) years and older"..... if you research the registration stats you will find the VAST majority of motorcycles registrations are for bikes from the 80's.... I also think 20 years or older is a way of saying...."you must be mad to keep that thing running".....which sort of was the point....to keep the modern sports types out......and be people who like working on bikes as well as riding them.,..
to keep the modern sports types out Twenty year old sports bike are "modern" to me
Bikes from the 80's ? What if someone comes along with a BSA Bantam ? Or a Brough Superior ?
They would probably have a lot of trouble keeping up with us on our virtual rides . . .
much better idea....i vote we remain a virtual bike group.....
Whats Virgil got to do with it...? FAB
Well, having re read our opening blurb, I'm with Diggers. Status Quo. Bikes are pre 90's and older( a small clarification, we have always allowed a 1990 bike to qualify, that should continue, in my humble opinion), a resto in progress will qualify you for BFTP Membership, but no sticket! or badge until a ride with your resto'd bike is completed. This is pretty much how we've done it since day dot. As for when we ride???????????? well, we've all grown quite attached to our machines and they're mostly spending quality time in our garages it would seem. Ride organisers don't have to be senior/long time BFTP members. If anyone with a BFTP Sticket on their bike wants to get a ride up and going then I say Go For IT!. So my vote is. Status Quo.
What if you have a bitza ? Do we take an average of the bitz ? Race bike pre '82 Suzi so no problem there Road bike (when its built !) 1977 frame with 94 engine = 1985. Dirt bike 1979 engine and frame (Suzi TS 250) with 92 front end = 1985. Am I going to get blackballed ?
Might not get invited on 'the monthly rain or shine runs".....
Yorkie, we couldn't black ball ya if we tried, yer an integral part of the BFTP nowadays and I cannae see a problem with having so many pre 90's bits in a bike, we're a group not a darned clan of "old Fart perfectionists" op's sorry there Mr Max, te he he.
Perfectionist, you say? Mate, you might want to come and take a look at the Pig. Looks OK from 20ft . . . .
AW SHUCKS !
