hi folks. same old argument still going on I see. I'm down to 3 zeds and Ducky ( still electric centre stand Volty ) Henry is going - off and on. More on than off these days! Not sure how often I can pop in with anything to say, but hoping the read is still worth the effort.

Hi Ratti! Good to see you posting again. I still think that Duckie's electric stand is very cool. Which one is Henry? Is he the Z1000 you were rejuvenating a few years ago? Got any piccies? Funnily enough, the culling thing hasn't come up for a while. We aren't under any pressure to reduce numbers or save digital space as such, so it's neither a priority nor a matter of urgency as far as I'm aware. I think it would be fair to say that we lost our way as a group, and we are now attempting to figure out what options are before us. Rides over the last few years have been spasmodic and not well supported. Few other clubs or groups are interested in '70s and '80s bikes, so it leaves us with few viable alternatives outside of BFTP. Yet monthly rides suit some but not others, group rides suit some but not others, while weekends away suit some but not others. I guess we're just trying to find some common ground again and gauge support.

I'm aiming to be much more active next year. Combination of time, and being skint as seriously slowed stuff down. I've now aquired the Mighty Red Beast and once that's finished I'm going to look round for a bigger bike to knock around on while the Yamauki gets built. I'm seriously itching to get back on bike AND introduce Mrs Yorkie to the delights of 2 wheels and am definately up for some trips away and overnighters. Who else is down in Welly ?
bit the same for me yorky..been in the wilderness for a time, but have a bike and keen to ride! if hawkesbay guys wanna do monthly or bi-monthly rides that'd be good, they can always be ridden in conjunction with classic club rides occasionally. ive got a hankering for a couple of weekend/overnight rides..one being a bit of an exploration ride around south wairarapa with a night at ngawi if anybodys interested
K well, the 1990 or older was our basic one and only rule. Not riding a on period bike on a run wasn't a crime it just wasn't expected that anyone would do it all the time. Culling those who are not active for a year or more is pretty humane and can't hurt. Organised runs, well, we tried that and for the first few years it worked quite well, bad winters, falling employment and general lackadaisical attitudes pretty much put paid to monthly rides. Pretty bumming out when you get a ride going , everyone says, yep, and no one turns up. Sadly I've missed a lot or riding over the last year or so, the wife now has another period bike Rhys's 400XV came home with her yesterday, so look out for two more classic/period yammy's joining the group. As for our profile within KB, well again Max is right the main forum page for us was always alive as we went there for general stuff and to post ride info, to simply once again start doing this would keep us in the mian KB eye so to speak. Dodgyiti, good to see you me ol mate. Answers are all there guys and girls, do it once, keep it simple and it will work. So, stick with 1990 or older, added that as long as a BFTP member does have a running or in rebuild stage period bike then no worries, they're in. Post in our OLD Main forum page, it comes up on KB's main home page if there's something new in it. Get a couple of people around the country to look at getting rides organised, perhaps 1 annual event that meets somewhere within the middle at least, of the Norf Isle. Taumaranui is still a good possible start. Volty has the reins presently cause he asked me for them, I'm happy if it stays that way as I'm just back to work and time and weekends are scarce presently. However I'm a BFTP member and i intend to stay that way for a bloody long time. Lets ride jenneleman!
Boys only rides is it Caseye? Giggle. Yup Max, Henry is one of the zed thous. Yorky sussed out which motors were viable - god what a head banger that was...I have pruned the collection to the installed, rebuilt motor, two spare frames and a few boxes of bits. and a complete motor that needs to bored and ringed. Have also acquired a secondhand partner ( Bald Eagle here on KB ) that is set on acqiuring an airhead, so you wil have company at some stage Max and Co. Along with a housemate who is simply desprate to ride anything, she was also looking at a beemer. We are in the saem house in the HUtt Yorky, and looking for a ride that is of a more managable pace/size than some of the others. Sunday suit us, ( Im working all blasted hours and days now ) We'd be up for an occasional trip away now that the last of my Enzymes are teenagers. As noted, 70's and 80's bikes don't really fit anywhere else so I'm all for keeping the current format.
..So I booked it into Weston-Webb, and it was fixed in 2 days. Goodness me. What did you do to get into Mr Weston-Webb's good books ?
I think it was the mechanic Brian that took pity on the naive 16 year old - he might've said book it in and we'll see what we can do. Brian and the parts guy who married Weston-Webb's daughter bought the place in the end.
AH, I thought you (like me) would have been too insignificant for the august Mr Weston-Webb to be aware of your existence. Did anyone, I wonder, ever know Mr Weston-Webb's christian name . Let alone to dare address him by it !
I don't post a lot here so I'll probably be on the next list for the chop. I haven't been on any BFTP rides because (1) they all seem to be in the upper North island and (2) the GS is waiting on a whole lot of things, mainly time and money, but i still do read the BFTP posts becuase they interest me. What will culling the membership lists achieve as far as raising the profile of the group goes?
I don't think anyone who expresses an interest should be culled, only the ones who sign up then wander off into the sweet night and are never heard from again. Admittedly, that may be the effect some members have on them .
Ixion - Today, 14:34 Admittedly, that may be the effect some members have on them . Were you looking at me when you said that? Oi you............ Where has he gone now? People are always doing that to me...
