Fixed , oil going back to the tank. Clutch noise to be investigated, bit of lock wiring Will be a late one tomorrow night. Jeez I love racing.
Periods of rain.....high of 16...... be just like being in Blighty. BMW in the VW...sorted. Don't forget wet weather gear.....
Winston is not in the trailer & has not even run up & down the road , going anyway. It's what Burt would do Have absolutely no expectations , might just do some parade laps
"Never in the shed have so many parts been taken apart and put back together...due to the Americans, this is not the beginning, or the end....or the end of the beginning or the beginning of the end. " Winstone Churchill April 2013
"Don't believe everything you read on the internet." Thomas Jefferson 1779
"so many bikes, so little time" frank zappa
Winston did not even manage a parade lap. I did them on a Bavarian tractor I helped to repair. That is another tale.
Google bavarian tractor, look at images and see what comes up....
Deutz, a 2 stroke diesel. The worst of both worlds.
Does that mean we will see you on a BMW from now on? Don't we get a report on your misfortunes?
Saturday weather was cold and damp but not raining, Trustme's Triumph unfortunately was a non starter for the day. Did one practice session and the engine started to make a rattle sound, pulled into the pits and Trustme said " Chap, your engine sounds rather noisy" and we looked down to see sparks coming from the timing hole... Verdamit.....its all over for me too, but the Dunkirk sprit kicked in and Trustme had the bike on some stands quicker than I could say fricken Bavarian Tractor...... With the help of rising classic classic racer Tyler ( 15) we had the tranny out the flywheel off and the offending ring gear out and all back together in about an hour. ( I love how you can nick other peoples pics) Starting was now using Lucas aide powered rollers Missed one practice session and only just made the race, passed a couple of back markers but finished nowhere. Trustme took out the BMW for a track parade ( untimed track session) and pretended to enjoy it, sounds rather nice with its Norton pipes last race was with the Posties on their fast Jap bikes, got left at the rear but had a great battle with a Yamaha......XJ......550.... Compared to Japanese 4 cylinder bikes BMW's sure are underpowered. Got past him but it took some doing and some fancy line planning on a corner. The day ended early as someone leaked oil on quite a bit of the track and after some cleanup the two test bikes said " no way" Still quite an interesting weekend.
Winston smoked worse than Thomas the Tank Engine. It appears the rings I bought from an AK supplier are simply not up to scratch, cheap & nasty in flash packaging. The std oil ring is a 3 piece assembly , the ones I fitted were a one piece . Bugger. RE pics . i guess the checks in the mail
The day ended early as someone leaked oil on quite a bit of the track Poxy Norton I heard, who'd have one Is the ring gear failure a common thing then as Steves sidecar did the same? I can send you the one up that I have in the shed if you like I think I'll be buying a new one now
If the Norton had three wheels then maybe it was...... made a very long mess. Ring gear is intact but flogged out the rivets. Probably nut and bolt it of weld it back together. Steves one snapped a chunk out of his
