Thats because he was the Gnat dealer. We sold a lot of Gnats around the Waikato in those pre-quad and ATV days. I remember seeing a MAC Velo in there with MV painted on the tank. Wishful thinking. Probably the Guzzi management were happy to get rid of all those Stornellos as they dropped them about then. There are bound to be a few more hiding around in NZ because I sold a few of them. Sold some 50cc Guzzis too. The Gnats used the Villiers 9E engines with the Dyna Start. If you turned the key the other way it would start backwards being a two smoke. Only the cockies would fire up the reverse before it had stopped the forward motion bit and sheer off the woodruffe key. I've still got all the manuals and special tools.
I've got a copy of the Stornello owners manual, I promised Pete Kelly I'd make a copy for him....but photocopiers and scanners died and haven't been replaced, so haven't been able to honour my promise. The world is full of arseholes like me.
