Shock Horror, oldest Son got KDX running and has gone out trial ride with mates
.... and with fresh eyes looked at Guzzi ignition.
The 12 volts from the ignition seemed to disappear when the unit was connected.
Today got the old light bulb and the '12' volts would not light it up.
Multimeters have a tendency to see voltage that is not there.

ran a separate wire to ignition and viola it fired up....
    freak'n Italian electrics.....Bosch rubbish.

Yeah, multimeters and LED test lamps can lead you up the wrong path - they see voltage, but not current. So you have power, but soon as the circuit is hooked up it can't supply the current required. My electronics expert who I got in to sort out mind boggling electronics in cars came armed with a cheap 12 volt test lamp....it's all he needed, all the fancy gear is just for show.

Does that mean you are keeping the Guzzi and making it into a classic racer? With the BMWs, Guzzi and Paul's Triumph it will be real BEARS event.

Round problem by using the 12 volt test light and wiggling all the cables, poor connection in plug from handlebars....
Nothing like a small win to get you motivated, all back together, all electrics working, ready for vin.
Its 1982 but local bloke says I need a brake cert..... NZTA says pre 90 or summit....
Racing a Guzzi? you need deep pockets for that, no BMW's it is.
What other 40 years old bike could you do 40 races with and only change the oil?
Trustme changes the oil after every engine rebuild

Breaking News, took beloved and cherished Monza for 20 test ride around the slopes of One Tree Hill avoiding all the BMW's and Audis.
No air cleaners so had the nice induction roar usually from larger bikes.
Down side is the air cleaners look to do crank ventilation.
Oh and I got a 'nod' off some sports bikes....me in my trackies and jacket too.
Probably thought it was a MK3

Took the Monza for another pre Vinning test night time ride around the back streets of Glory on an Italian made machine.........( from the Born to Not Run Album)

Goes well, slow to drop to idle, but I think the carbs need a proper clean as does not respond to idle jet.

getting a set of tyres next as the current ones would need a whole tin of polish.

I like this one, I thought with his 7k start price it would be a high reserve but 8500.
