Those straight 8 Packards would have added to the fossil fuel consumption in Hawke Bay. Mine would would convert a lot of fossil reserves into not a lot of forward motion. Probably not much good for a drive-by shooting if you wanted to vacate the scene. They would get you at the next gas station.
