Been there heaps of times and Murray put it up a number of times re rides there. (No takers). Its pretty much a meeting point for car clubs, bikers etc and does ok pub grub. More of a who will be there rather than a must go place - depending on which way you go there are a number of good rides there - probably the best is the road past Hobbiton off SH1
When I was a youngster at Hamilton Boys'High, there were several kids who died from Amoebic Meningitis from swimming in the pools there. We all avoided the place after that but a ride without the swim sounds good.
I know the pub well, i have some good memories from growing up around those parts(Te Waotu) good pub, good food, usually good company, win win really.
