Ross, you'll either wear out that beemer or love it to death. Rode mine in torrential rain today and wondered why I did. When will it ever stop raining?
yes I'm definitely enjoying the bmw, bit like kickaha and the BSA, the more I ride it, the more i like it, the more i want to ride it... Tokomaru bay is a good blast, about 3 hrs round trip, putt through the gorge to opotiki if i have a bit more time, tried some ice riding in the gorge on the last trip... which was ummmm... interesting !!! There was a couple of times riding to Auckland last time when i thought "hmmm i could use one of them big fairings about now" but most of the time the Givi is adequate. It has to stop raining eventually...
I have an unwanted Luftmeister fairing.......
Weekend away at the Hawkes Bay Classic rally, good time as always. Two of us dug well into the past and took our rigids, '44 16H and '50 Thunderbird. 875 liesurely km for the weekend, including Napier - Taihape on the way home. A few insignificant parts jettisoned but otherwise incident free. Having been phone/radio/tv free it was something of a surprise to find the snow around the Desert Road on Sunday - cold and wet, oh yes motorcyling's for me
had an awesome week catching up with friends an family, gisborne - Cambridge, Cambridge to stratford via taumaranui and the forgotten highway, stratford to masterton, masterton to gisborne, 1720 k's, mixture of fine, windy, wet and very wet
Got the TY250 out, did a few wheel stands, rode over a few logs in my paddock, fell off, several times, back to putting new water supply pipes in, limping a bit too will use TY175 tomorrow for the repeat, without falling off (-;
Good luck for tomorrow Jase!
4 day weekend Hamilton to Hanmer and back on the ES2. Incl Maruia Saddle and Molesworth, 1100 miles all up without a hiccup.
Not today but yesterday. I flew to Napier to pick up my latest bike: GS1100G. After I went for a ride on Croc's beast a few weeks ago I was sold (so to speak). Had a nice ride home, from Taupo I went through Whakamaru and then Waipa Rd to Te Awamutu. Not done that road before, but it was a great road, no traffic, nice country. GS just burbled along very nicely. Good day.
Are you starting a massive bike collection or just hunting for that perfect bike?
Haha, I don't have either the cash or the garage space for a collection, although I reckon 3 would cover a few important areas. No, just after the right bike, similar to what the Speights guy used to say: she's a hard road finding the perfect woman(bike) son. The CBR was great but lacked something, too bland I guess. The GS takes me back to 80s air cooled, 2V, in line four, classic UJM style. I always say "this one's a keeper", I'll let you know in 12 months.
