Got sump plate partially made for DT, just needs rolling to shape. Hopefully get round to blaster in next couple of weeks just got to pay insurance on VT first. I sent some bits off to Advanced Platers in Hamilton and he did a beautiful job as usual. Unfortunately I only noticed after I'd unwrapped the lovely, gleamy handlebars that the bloody things are bent Any ideas how I can bend them straight without wrecking the chrome ? I'm assuming I'll have to warm 'em up but will have a go doing them cold. No biggie if I HAVE to redo them but rather save the $35.
Finally got the TZ750 all back together after the gearbox niggle (4 th gear engagement was a bit sus) and after 100 runs on the dyno got the carbs all sorted. To put it in perspective that would have taken about 20 track days to get it (assuming I had all the parts that we ended up using) and no guarantee it would have got it as good at the circuit given the ability to objectively track air fuel ratio and actual HP curve.....the boys got 131bhp at the contact patch at less rpm than normal and given it's pretty stock internally with good pipes, carbs, reeds and ignition, I'm pretty happy...as it only weighs in the circa of 150 or so kgs.....
would have loved to have been in there to see that... i imagine it would've sounded awesome
Not sure if the workshop neighbours were happy!
fired up the TS400 on the weekend, lots of noise, no pipe as yet just a short header pipe, lots of smoke, spluttered a bit then settled to a reasonable idle, pretty stoked really considering the motor came out of a box and went in the frame with only a new spark plug...,
Rode the TZ750 a week back, properly for the first time after the rebuild. 3 years since I've ridden one...Forgot how they yank tarseal backwards under you, while holding the front wheel an inch or 2 off the deck through second.
