Take into account it was being built and used in trucks 52 years ago,
90 BHP is not bad for a 3000cc desiel when Ford and Chev were only getting 110BHP out of there V* truck motors,
The 3 cylinder Commer was a very common truck here in NZ,
Im sure there are a few here that remember tbe Bull Nosed Commers, almost the first common cab over engine truck.
yes more rpm = more hp but when you look at diesel they rev low my dad old boat had 400hp twin v8 diesel maxed out at 3700rpm but put out 700-750 pds of torque each pushed 11tons of power cat to 32-34 knots although it did drink around $50 an hour and that was 4 years ago when diesel wa cheap hence the 3000 liter tanks. try filling that suxer

That first post engine would be impossible to get any power out of, or balance.
ps Its nothing like a subaru engine
