Thanks Selwyn. Him indoors has got a bike now too! http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...97&postcount=1 It's newer than mine!
Come the finer weather I'll be encouraging (aka: nagging) him to come for rides cos I wanna do a trip down South for new years.

Yup passed my test earlier this month! I'm loving the power of a bigger bike and can't wait for summer so I can go for a proper blat instead of just commuting.

Exactly!! That's wot actually spurred me on! I realised if I wanted to keep coming down to see the wonderful KBers of the South I needed to get me a bigger bike! Betty just wasn't making the ride enjoyable anymore.

Some would scoff at "only 500cc" but back in the '70's a 500 was a serious bike and I used to ride everywhere at 100mph on the old T500 Suzuki... Long trips were taken without a thought and at the time the T500 was a quick as a Ferrari in the quarter mile.

The GS has a rep as a great "do everything" bike, not outstanding in any particular area, but so versatile it may be a long time before you want to "upgrade" again.

Here's a pic of my old T500. As you can see, I used to prefer riding it to washing it...

It's blurry because it was fast even standing still... Note the complete lack of chicken strips?..

Actually it's a phone camera pic of an old photo, so didn't come out as well as I wanted.

Ah, well, one couldn't ride Triumph's version at 100mph everywhere without dire consequences...

Won't do the VCR, wot date is the SI gathering? I'm actually planning a trip down South for New Years at Aramoana with the whanau (between the 28th - 3rd/4th).

Thanks heaps, yep we'll be on for a ride soon hopefully, we've been a bit too bloody busy doing other stuff recently. Him indoors needs to get his riding hours up before our trip down the road in Dec.

Hey I see you got a Bonneville! I'll definitely have to come check that baby out!
