NZKTM and his Husaberg. The 2005 is scuttled...

    Well folks,it doesn't look good.
I made the call and got the information and then decided to attack
I stripped the bike and as I took the things off I cleaned, scrubbed and really dollied the bits up. What for? Well, I have the immaculate 2004 Husaberg here and it is looking sharp now. I have put the smaller kick lever on it from the 2005 and it fits nicely under the Clarke Tank.
Taking the gear box side off, it looked clean and nicely sharp on all the cogs.
I took the Stator off and this was also dry, clean and free from any rust. When I took the oil drain plug out and the magent it had sprouted growth, lots of nice spikey bits which means possible big end or something worse...? Dunno, I am no mechanic...
It has taken me three days and it is now down to the frame, the swning arm and the motor! I cannot get the swing arm off, spring etc, too much torque there on the bolts...Need a pair of extra hands to stop the frame from swinging...he he
I have two banana boxes full of spare parts and they are all in tip top condition as I have done all required as I have taken bits off...
The Carburettor has taken three hours to clean....alone!
    So, where to from here...?
I might try and get the motor out, then maybe give it a clean, spray the frame, see what is actually wrong and then try and re-install everything...
The good thing is that because I have a model sitting alongside me, I can copy and install bits and pieces as I go.
I know thatwhen it is finished it will be the cleanest Husy around!
By the way,the other Husaberg is now looking great! The bike is clean, running very well and I am suprised I didn't notice something on the Sunday as this one has oodles of power out on the road....

The first photo shows the magnet, it has picked up lots and lots of metal. I had cleaned this only 500Km ago, so it looks bad....
When I took the gar box cover off I rubbed my finger on the bottom and it was like i had been painted silver! The inside of the casing was coated with fleck! Loose metal flakes.....All over the bottom of the casing...Hmmm
I haven't got the head off yet, but having a look at at the cheain, the cogs, it looks good. I bet the piston or something else is in bits...Dunno, I am going to put a blanket over it and have a wake party...

As you can see, I have the spectacular Husaberg here ready to go and it will be dressed all set up for the winter rides...
I have lots and lots of parts for this, so riding and maintaining shouldn't be an issue from here on in...
Just bad luck, it can happen to the best of bikes.....(Tui Advertisement here...)

79 hours give or take...Very small amount...
The other bike has done less, so will be spoilt for choice on the parts available, not to mentio that all of these parts are KTM suitable too.
Might have to mention that to the Orange brigade...
Switch gear, speedo, wiring, etc etc...

Maybe a stupid question, but why not fix it?

I would rather ride it than see a lot of parts unused, but I am just jealous!

    Money....
I am taking it apart for that very reason. If it is something small, then yes,it will be fixed.
It might take awhile but it will be on the road again one day.

Good to hear. Let me know if you need a hand. I have done a few motors, and have a few tools. I lack time more than anything.

I have a mate coming over in the weekend. I need someone to hold the bike while I try and undo the nuts, they are very tightly torqued on as expected. Once this has been done I can lift the motor out. From there I am at a loss, might be asking a few blokes on here as to the next steps to take.
I will post some photos in the mechanical section.

There is no rush as funds are lacking to get it fixed anyway. I do have the other Husaberg as you can see in the photos. This other bike has less hours on it and it is a 2004. The motor on this is very tight, it has been lightly run throughout its life so far.
Fingers crossed it will last a long time.

Husaberg for sale 2004 complete with 2005 parts...

Yes folks, I have decided to get rid of both bikes. I have the Husaberg 2004 road legal 380Km to a tank for sale. It will also come with a complete 2005 bike in parts, this has everything you need to make another Husaberg complete again, just fix the engine.
I don't know what is required, it could be easy, it could be a major, dunno...Seems to be a gear issue.
I am willing to let them go, just weeding out the stable, wanting to get some funds.....
I have ad posted, but there may be someone out there interested I hope...?
    Thanks.

The parts are all there, nuts, bolts etc...
I have the manuals and it just needs someone clever to fix the motor...

Does anyone want to split if for me for a few beers?

I'm sure I could take it appart for you but putting it back together so it runs again might be another thing all together Good luck with the sale.

    Cheers R
