I have to agree with Yungatart - but you ride however you like - some people just love speed and it does not necessarily mean we endanger the lives of others on the road.

Speed limit?? I didn't think anyone sat on that on a bike anyway.....

    anyway....

Sitting at 100, and look in my mirror (yes i use em!) and some pocket rocket comes flying past me (had to be doing 130-140 easy)....

Heres my question.... seems everyone on here is about safety.... the gear required, the quality of the roads, bike maintenance etc all this to keep us alive and safe....

So.... Why do people speed? that guy could have comfortably sat behind me at 100....i was doing the limit....

I remember when the speed limit used to be 80km on the open road.... people did 100..... now its 100... people do 120-130....

Whats with doing everything you can to stay alive and then break the speed limit.....

in saying that... around town i do 50 and god it feels slow!

Is the 100km/hr limit just too slow? can bikes and cars safely go faster? or are people just saying they know better than the law?

Im sure there are guys on here who could easly ride round at 180kph and never crash....Watched Karate Kid this weekend....'Learn to fight so you never have too' great quote...

I wanna learn to ride over 100 so I never have to (unless on a track)...

    your thoughts....

oh, and had i swerved to miss debris that rider today would be picking his face off the road... and I would probably be dead....
I refuse to sit behind car's beacuse i cant see as far as i would like to so..i go a bit faster then the trafic

I do so in that I dont endanger people in the flow of traffic... Have spoken with a mate (who is a cop) who suggested its safer for me to go 100 than it is to go 70 on the open road. Unfortunately I have to travel on an open road to get to work otherwise I would avoid it till my restricted.

My main grievence was not the guys speed... but mainly overtaking within 2 ft of me, when I was quite far left and he never needed to be that close....

HTFU is fine....I can take a scare as much as anyone... Point is this guy endangered my life and quite possibly the life of others HTFU is not gonna help me survive a crash

Why cause I prefer to ride safely? and dont wanna do 180km/hr?

Yes bikers can be dicks just like any other individual. Had someone pass me on the inside in my own lane on the motorway the other day when it was moderately busy just cause they felt like it.
cause you were going to slow?

I was going the speed of the traffic, as I said, it was moderately busy.

Even if I was going slow, the dude was breaking the law and putting me in danger. He wouldn't have known if I was looking in my mirrors or not.

If you want people to drive/ride slower, just put the price of fuel up!

It was incredible last year when 98 fuel was up around $2.30. Everyone was driving slow...... where previously if I was sitting on 110k I'd be getting passed by a constant stream of cars, when the price was right up I could sit at 90-95 and it was rare to be passed.

I'm sure the government would be keen to put up the taxes.... for road safety of course if they thought of it.

I generally ride at 120. Just comfortable doing not much more than that.

So you don't mind people cutting past you on your left? Do you lane split when the traffic's traveling over 70kph?

You sound like a little road

People speed because- Its fun.LOL (well some of them are just morons. most infact.)

Going over 100 isnt bad.....unless youre driving/riding recklessly and don't know what you're doing.

Seems midly on topic ..... true need

As for speed, we are a populous beaten into submission by the propoganda of a controlling government. this ubiqutous propoganda has permeated society to the extent that people will mount their high horse and preach about "speed kills'

They say it is wrong to speed, They demand we wear a helmet, They decide that speeding is easy $$$; and persue it. (I will concede they also provide medical care if we fall off) However it is simply the 'I will get fined' thought that prevents me from doing 150kmh everywhere. I am comfortable at that speed and I accept the risks associated. Is it that we look at 150kph as terrible only because we are told it is?

    No I haven't been drinking
No I havent been smoking pot
No I am not a hippy
