The long back straight at Puke is good for top speed trials.
BMW K100RS= 240kmh, then the electronic speedo clapped out [ $1000 under waranty] shortly after the rev limitter cut in. So perhaps 250? It was still pulling hard.
And if you can trust wog speedos- 270+ round to the zero stop on a Daytona Guzzi with the stage 2 engine and exhaust kit.

nyyyyyers, I'll bet it does! My GSXR 600 (exactly the same as yours I believe?) speedo kinda slowed down at 257 at puke and it didn't have much left to give before I hit the brakes (disallowing track speeds is no fun Bugjuice- it takes away that little bit of a disclaimer should someone come looking to make trouble!)

Does it have to be on a bike?:spudwhat: Cause I did roughly 350Km/h in my dads Jag XJS back in the states. Most I have done on a bike (in a straight line) was about 160 and the curves drops it to about 150-120.

I didn't say anything about disallowing track speeds. In fact, that's really where they should be, but by saying that I'd be a hypicrit, which I'm not, I'm just not going to say what I've got too on public roads.

As for Puke, I'm hoping next weekend to beat my personal best top speed.. I'd really like to push at least 270 if not more, just depends on how much more the bike and I can push before that nasty hairpin

I'm hoping there's a story behind the horsepower required to pull that.

And as of today I need to revise my score upward by one notch...

I wouldn't think your 636 would be capable of such speeds unless you've done some mighty mods to the engine!

Keep us posted! I might even come down and see you attempt it? :spudwhat:

I've seen some speed on that which has made me wonder how much more it'll push. It's stock at the mo (everything is), and I've calculated that at the red line in 6th is about 300, which I know it probably can't make without mods, I'm just hoping there's enough room before the anchors are dropped
I'll be riding with a tankcam on anyway, so that'll prove me right or wrong.. The bike has 10,000ks, so nicely broke in I guess. Be interesting to see. By all means, come and laugh at me

    wouldn't know, honest
just bear in mind that things can go really wrong really really fast. Glad it was on a closed road tho
you should try to get it on a track actually, that fear of paranoia goes away and you enjoy the experiance more.. I wouldn't mind seeing about hiring an old runway for half a day, do speed runs down there..

Dude, the last thing I would do is laugh at you. Any biker who is willing to take it to the track has my full respect!

I've seen Quasi on his 636 at Puke but not sure what top speeds he was reaching down the back straight? Maybe if he's reading this he can elaborate.

was hoping he'd be back on by now and causing trouble.. thought he got back last weekend..?

Anyone else on 6 hundies been to puke? Whatcha seen at the kink (and don't say the rest of the track.. smart )? I know thous do 300+, I guess it comes to gearing for anything else. I'm talkin stock here...

actually I fear we're digressing from the original thread here.. kinda gone a little (but without the mean face)

yeah, I'll definitely be working on that... I give it until about Thursday...

I was hoping there would be a track day coming up soon at Manfeild - reason being my cousin lives in Feilding and it's only a couple hours away so no biggie if anything happens. Timing just never seemed to be right so far!!

Although it will be humbling experience... I'm used to turning up to track days in underpowered cars and embarrassing the wannabes... don't fancy that being the otherway around.
