Will do, my man - seems a bit of a design fault having to take the device that is supposed to lessen buffeting and noise off to lessen buffeting and noise

Dont ask me why the pics are all over the show.

Pulled my engine apart this arvo, bloody hell klrs are easy to work on, nothing awkward at all, it just about fell apart. Anyway the only things i saw that were symptomatic of oil burning was that there was a pool of oil on top of the piston, and that the piston has been dusted. Not sure if the dusting has caused the oil burning or it was when I had to ride it with no filter for a while after drowning it up serpentine, then only washing it in water at Allex and not oiling it for the rest of the trip to fairlie. Its a K&N and maybe they aren't as good in dust as some suggest.

The bore looks good although I will get it measured to see if it has gone out of round because of the temperature fluctuations I get. I have also ordered a thermobob and will try and get a radiator too as i reckon mine is only working at about 80% efficiency because of the hourglass shape it is after several offs prior to fitting the ims tank.

The head is well coked up, but I haven't got a valve compressor so can't check them out yet. valve stem seals are coming with the 685 kit so will replace them as well, hopefully the valve guides are ok.

AHEM they have had a bad rep from all the KLR sites as I informed youat the time of purchase. God I love being able to sayI told you so - makes me feel muchmore smarter than usual

Do you need any extra engine bits? I've still got the bucket of crap here.

BTW I'm after another kickstand for GONZO if anyone has one lying around.

All looks pretty good really, but you never know. You may be right about the k and n, not sure whether to get a pre filter now or just put the foamy one back in.

Also if anyone has a good radiator pref post 08 i would be interested.

the logging starts today in the area at the end of the valley.
The road we ride along in the first 2 minutes of the video is where they will bring the logs out and the hillclimb in the last 8 minutes is where they will be logging

we went there yesterday to say goodbye to an area we have have an immense amount of fun in

and yes he hill is steeper tan it looks..

Congrats Marks on getting the KLR up number 1 hill. Are you satisfied now or is number 2 or Cnut hill next?

thanks - was happy to get up with no drops (saved those for later in the day...)

I'll have a go at number 2 if it stays dry enough but it will probably result in me doing numbers 2's

    That track is (was) Mungy-tastic!
I especially like the end - you can see my house from there!
I'm hoping that after the logging there will be some new trails cut....
    Hoping for a silver lining...
